A black ex-cop in Texas is accused of killing three people on Sunday, when we were all talking about the Sikh community in Indianapolis.

From FoxNews:

A massive multi-agency manhunt including the FBI and U.S. Marshals is underway in Austin for an armed suspect wanted for killing at least three people near an apartment complex late Sunday morning.

Austin police said that the three lifeless bodies were all adults, including two Hispanic females, and one Black male. They said they believe the suspect is Stephen Nicholas Broderick, who is possibly a former law enforcement officer charged with sexual assault of a child last summer.

Austin's KXAN, citing an arrest affidavit, reported last June that the Travis County Sheriff's Office detective was on administrative leave following an arrest for allegations of sexual assault.

The Austin Police Department said the suspect was still at large as of approximately 2:30 p.m. local time and is considered armed and dangerous. Police have urged everyone nearby to shelter in place and report suspicious activity.

"We are concerned he might possibly take a hostage and be himself sheltered somewhere waiting for us to leave," Interim Austin Police Chief Joseph Chacon said during a news conference Sunday afternoon.

Chacon said Broderick knew the victims but didn't elaborate on how or provide a motive for the shootings. He also said a child was involved but that the child has been located and is safe.

EMS spokeswoman Capt. Christa Stedman said the first 911 call came in at 11:44 a.m. and that three adults were fatally shot. She said she did not know the exact location where they were killed but that EMS responded to an area that included a strip mall and several retail stores with a large apartment complex behind it

So apparently this guy was accused of rape of a child, but was still at large. Normally, when you get bail on a felony, they ask you to turn in all your guns, but of course someone who will do illegal rape and illegal murder will probably have illegal guns as well.

Should this spark a conversation about gun control, as it usually does? Well, obviously it can't spark a conversation about the dangers of hiring black men as cops, as seen in these items, because that's absolutely taboo:

However, one thing that at least conservatives have been willing to have conversation about is the danger of hiring unqualified black cops with no background checks. In 2005, I wrote about an American Enterprise  good article about the consequences of affirmative action in police hiring.

In order to attract minorities, a police department has to compete with private industry, which offers jobs where you can stay home at night, and nobody shoots at you. This is true for recruiting and retention of white officers, too, but good minority candidates are very much sought after by quota-driven industries. That means much lower standards for minority cops, especially in the area of background checks, and that means...

Although it did not receive much attention in the mainstream media, an embarrassing truth was exposed: Many L.A. cops had been corrupted by black gangsters (just as many New York cops were corrupted in another era by the Italian mob). "Rampart wasn't about cops who became gangsters," explained former LAPD deputy chief Downing. "It was about gangsters who became cops."
