Johnny Depp was awarded $15 million in the defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Depp sued Heard for $50 million in damages over a 2018 essay published in The Washington Post, where she said she had become a “public figure representing domestic abuse.” The jury also awarded $2 million in compensatory damages to Heard, but $0 in punitive damages.
I suspect this is what the public really wants in the Age of Me-Too and Donald Trump: celebrity vs. celebrity show trials where all their personal secrets get aired and members of the public get to cast judgment.
