Sheldon Adelson: The Owner?

Appallingly bad news for America was confirmed this week in Billionaire Sheldon Adelson Assesses the 2016 Field by Shane Goldmacher National Journal September 11, 2013

Adelson…said he is considering an expanded involvement in Senate Republican primaries after watching flawed GOP nominees fritter away winnable seats in the last two cycles.

“We are going to be involved in more primary races than we were before,” he said.

There have been hints of this earlier, and the parasites have been gathering. This interview parallels the advertorials Adelson organized in the Wall Street Journal in December in which he declared in favor of Amnesty and described himself as a ‘Social Liberal”. As intended, GOP Consultants will be taking notice.

The problem for America is that Adelson’s only detectable patriotism is for Israel. The evidence is that for him America is just a good place to do business, like Macau from which the Chinese Government tolerates him drawing the bulk of his revenue.

But as the National Journal points out

Top Republicans make efforts to stay in Adelson’s good graces—and for good reason. Last year, he handed out $30 million to a super PAC backing Mitt Romney; $23 million to American Crossroads, the Karl Rove-affiliated super PAC; and $5 million apiece to the super PACs formed by allies of House Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Eric Cantor, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

And his money is talking!

The news that

Adelson rattled off the names of Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla.; Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., the 2012 vice presidential nominee; New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie; and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker as presumed candidates….Adelson had only kind words for most of the potential contenders. “Everybody’s impressed me,”

should automatically disqualify these individuals from consideration (although admittedly seeing Chris Christie imitating a trained seal was amusing).

Adelson – and others like him – constitute an enormous existential threat to the GOP.

And therefore to the Nation.
