A Louisiana Reader Wonders Why Muslims Who Don`t Believe In Christ Get A Christmas Stamp
From: Lloyd Hittle (e-mail him)
During the War Against Christmas, I`m surprised that philatelist and letter writer Jerome Van Dyke didn`t mention that the Eid stamp issued by the United States Post Office celebrates two Muslim holidays, Eid Al-Fitr and Eid Al-Adha, both nowhere close to Christmas.
Ironically, even though Muslims don`t believe in Christ, the U.S. government sees fit to honor Islam with what is in effect a Christmas stamp.
This is political correctness gone crazy. If it had not been for a Muslim write-in campaign, the stamp would never have been considered. [US Muslims Push Stamp as Symbol of Acceptance, by Laurie Goodstein, New York Times, November 21, 2001]
Here`s what all Americans should remember if the post office tries to sell you an Eid stamp: the Muslim bombings of Pan Am Flight 103, the World Trade Center, U.S. Marine barracks in Lebanon, military barracks in Saudi Arabia, American embassies in Africa, the USS Cole and 9/11.
