I just wanted to shoot you a link to the only actual coverage of this crime that I could find.
The police of course, are not treating it as a hate crime and are charging him with misdemeanor vandalism type offenses only.

Ibrahim, of Fairview Avenue, is charged with desecration of a venerated object and criminal mischief for allegedly pushing the statue over and breaking it on July 18, the criminal complaint states.Probable cause for the charge is identification of Ibrahim from security video, according to the court document.Ibrahim has nine prior arrests, five disorderly persons convictions and a criminal conviction for unlawful possession of a weapon, according to a court official, who added that his last arrest was in June. The only place that actually reported it (a local paper called the Jersey Journal
), certainly didn't care to notice that it was a Muslim who committed this crime or that there is any significance to it.
When I and other commenters began to discus this oversight, they disabled comments on the story—and deleted the ones we made, there are now "0 comments." [Email Ron Zeitlinger, managing editor of the Jersey Journal, and ask him why.]
I don't know if you have the time (or inclination) to try and raise the visibility on this, but I thought I would give you a heads up.
