Days after Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas once again lied that the “border is secure, we learn just how big a lie that is [Mayorkas maintains 'border is secure' despite record crossings; FBI sees ‘significant criminal threats’, by Timothy H.J. Nerozzi, Fox News, November 15, 2022]. Eight weeks into fiscal 2023, which began October 1, a record number of illegals has slipped into the country, and border agents have already handled a record number of encounters.

From Fox News’s Griff Jenkins:

BREAKING: Number of Gotaways—confirm/seen crossing illegally but not apprehended—on an unprecedented pace this FYTD23: 134,649 since Oct 1st per CBP sources. Overall migrant encounters also on record pace—FYTD23: 349,216 (compared to 275,624 this time last FY22)

To put those numbers into perspective, at least 2,496 illegals per day got away. Border agents dealt with 6,467 illegals every day.

The 350,000 whom agents stopped exceeds the populations of Anaheim, California, and Honolulu, Hawaii.

But the border, Mayorkas insists, “is secure.”
