Ferguson, Missouri is a suburb of St. Louis out near the airport. In August 2014, it was nationally proclaimed The Face of America’s Greatest Crisis: Too Much Rule of Law. The Black Lives Matter movement more or less began at Ferguson, followed shortly by the Ferguson Effect.

Judging from video of brawls at the Ferguson Walmart this week, it looks like the Ferguson Effect is still going on in Ferguson.

By the way, Ferguson appears to be entering the depopulation end phase of racial transition, with its population dropping by 1/8th from 2010 to 2020. It had managed to stabilize in population around the turn of the century because it was mostly small single family homes. Although younger whites wouldn’t raise their families there due to the schools, older whites weren’t fleeing because their new black neighbors were low-crime homeowners. But then apartment buildings for Section 8 tenants, such as Michael Brown, were built.
