Israeli Minister Eli Yishai: Can we hire him?
Well…actually the headline is a paraphrase of remarks by Israeli Interior Minister Eli Yishai:
"It is my intention to make life in Israel miserable for the Sudanese and Eritrean infiltrators, until they realize that their place is not here. Whoever wishes to keep talking and end up a future witness in the commission of inquiry investigating how Israel was lost — should talk. Whoever wants to act and ensure a Jewish and Zionist state for his children — should act. I choose to take action," said Yishai.
Former Mossad official to head efforts against African infiltrators Israel Hayom Thursday August 30, 2012Israel Hayom, now Israel’s biggest circulation newspaper, is owned by Sheldon Adelson, who also owns Romney’s foreign policy and (especially in view of the GOP Platform’s Guest Worker plank) apparently his immigration policy as well. Double standards appear not to trouble Adelson.
Other Israeli newspapers omitted Yishai’s first sentence.
There is no intellectually respectable reason for the divergence between US and Israeli policy on illegal immigrants. Both should follow Lou Barletta’s approach. Some point to the violence offered by Israel’s neighbors but this does not apply to African Blacks. In fact Premier Netanyahu and his ministers have always framed the question in terms of the economic and social burden caused, not any security issue. In the first of my “Netanyahu for President” series I quoted him:
We are flooded with surge of refugees who threaten to wash away our achievements and damage our existence… They are causing socio-economic and cultural damage and threaten to take us back down to the level of the Third World. They take the jobs of the weakest Israelis."
The Israel Hayom account concludes
The past few months have seen a steep drop of infiltrators entering Israel, which has coincided with the progression of the security fence's construction along the Egyptian border. In August, only 196 infiltrators crossed into Israel, compared to some 2,000 last May.
Too effective an example for America to follow!Romney’s Border Fence proposal, meanwhile, has suspiciously become “Virtual” - aka Pork.
