Border agents at the nation’s southwest frontier set a new record in March: They encountered 221,303 illegals, and the Brandon Regime released more than 80,116. That’s about 37 percent, which is in keeping with the monthly releases since October 1, the beginning of fiscal 2022.
Total border encounters this year: 1 million-plus.
As VDARE reported last week, early unofficial numbers, viewed in late March by reporters at The Washington Post, showed that border agents were on track to surpass 200,000 encounters. But the total, 221,303, is a high for the Biden regime, and surpasses 213,593 encounters in July last year, then 209,840 in August.
To get an idea of what the border agents face, do a little math. They handled about 7,138 illegals per day.
Now, as we said last time, to the mind-boggling numbers …
Total illegal aliens caught since October 1, the beginning of fiscal 2022: 1,059,988.
Total released since then: 398,816 (37.6 percent).
With six months left to go in the fiscal year, and Biden’s own officials predicting as many as 18,000 encounters per day when he lifts the application of Title 42, the year-end total could be as many as 3.5 million.
And these numbers don’t include border encounters and releases since the first full month of the Biden presidency.
In one month, border agents handled the population of San Bernardino, California. Total so far since Let’s Go Brandon took office: 2.5 million, about the population of Chicago, the nation’s third largest city.
Let that sink in.
