If Signor X is upset that Mexicans are called Latinos, he must be doubly put out that he has been dubbed an "Anglo". The term has fallen out of use but in the 70's in California the term was applied to anyone but those of Mexican descent, who were in those days often referred to by the blessedly obsolete term "Chicano". I'm as white as they come but not at all English and found the term a bit galling.

The "Anglos" then were not people of English descent, but actually in large part the descendants of those who had learned English upon coming here. What a concept. We should all be Anglos!
