In his recent commentary in VDARE.com (entitled ”Defy the Open Borders Crazies—Whatever Their Motivation!”), John Derbyshire lists seven possible answers to the question of ”What is driving the Open Borders movement?” However, he overlooked three other fundamentally important motivations.

1. Leftist whites feel a strong sense of guilt and shame about much of American history (and more generally about Western civilization), regarding it as mainly being a litany of crimes against non-whites. They agree with Susan Sontag that ”The white race is the cancer of human history.” [Partisan Review, Winter 1967, p. 51-58]. By promoting Open Borders (and thus The Great Replacement), they feel that they are providing expiation for the alleged sins of their ancestors (which then promotes their own sense of moral self-worth).
2. A significant number of non-whites (and particularly non-white elites) favor The Great Replacement (via Open Borders) as a form of revenge against whites. As Joe Sobran said: ”Western man towers over the rest of the world in ways so large as to be almost inexpressible ... The white man presents an image of superiority even when he isn’t conscious of it ... Superiority excites envy. Destroying white civilization is the inmost desire of the league of designated victims we call ’minorities.’”
3. As Kevin MacDonald has pointed out, a significant proportion of Jews view white Christians with antipathy (fearing the latter as a potential source of anti-Semitism) and thus have sought to lessen the power of American whites by promoting The Great Replacement via Open Borders.
