It’s been ten months since the mostly-peaceful protest on the U.S. Capitol building following a Trump rally in Washington D.C. for which congress failed to find the former President guilty of inciting. Biden appointee Attorney General Merrick Garland has continued to focus on federally prosecuting attendees of the rally, which James Fulford compares to the Palmer Raids of the early 1900s - with one key difference.
For those wondering - the Palmer Raids were conducted during the first Red Scare by the Department of Justice under Woodrow Wilson beginning in 1919 after communist anarchist immigrants from Italy and Eastern Europe were found to be plotting to send packages rigged with explosives to politicians of the era which would detonate on May Day, 1919. Later, more bombings took place by these Bolshevik immigrants which destroyed Attorney General A. Mitchell Palmer’s residence in Washington. Public fear of communism grew, and Palmer began a mass campaign to round-up and subsequently deport immigrants who were suspected conspirators. Similar raids were called for after 9/11, which would have the intent of investigating and deporting Arab conspirators in plots against the United States.
Today, Attorney General Merrick Garland is taking a similar approach to those who attended Trump’s Rally on January 6th. Fulford writes: “The offenses of the Mostly Peaceful protesters are nothing like the Italian immigrant bombing campaign against Palmer and other American officials. They certainly don’t approach the level of the May 31, 2020 siege of Trump’s White House that injured 60 Secret Service officers, and caused Trump to fight back, and make a personal appearance at the head of Federal Law Enforcement troops.” Indeed, the events of January 6th pale in comparison to the actions of Black Lives Matter and Antifa which carried fires and attacks on municipalities and government buildings throughout the Trump presidency. Fulford continues: “The problem now is that the communists are in control”. To date over 500 protestors at the U.S. Capital have been arrested and charged.
