I’ve found it useful, in my head, to substitute “accomplice” for “sanctuary” when I read about sanctuary cities, etc. It changes the framing from the city being a moral beacon helping the persecuted to a shifty co-conspirator working to thwart the law and get over on someone[Comment at Unz.com]The Left does this all the time. (“Undocumented immigrant” for “illegal alien”. “Climate change” for “global warming”. Maybe “accomplice” isn’t the best choice, but it’s more evocative than “nullification”, especially for people raised on Law & Order TV and can’t remember any history, even recent history. We should try rebranding “sanctuary” with something else.
