The Bush family has consistently produced the most successful saboteurs on the American Right.

After the end of Ronald Reagan's second term, Pat Buchanan famously said that the biggest vacuum in American' politics was to Reagan's right.  Well, not after George H.W. Bush was through with it—we can thank "41" for giving us the Clinton years and tearing the heart out of the emerging Middle American Revolution.

Then we had George W. Bush.  Even after the terrorist attacks of September 11, George W. Bush consistently pushed for an Amnesty/Immigration Surge, all the while defending a foreign policy built around the idea that Americans should die so foreigners can enjoy "democracy."  The resulting catastrophe destroyed conservatism among an entire generation of Americans and gave us Barack Obama.

Now, Jeb Bush is staking his claim to be the champion of the Republican Establishment in the 2016 Presidential Elections.

Jeb Bush, the former Republican governor of Florida and the brother and son of two former U.S. presidents, has essentially kicked off the 2016 presidential campaign with pre-announcement announcement on Facebook.

Saying he had conversations with his family about the future of the country, Bush said he had decided to "actively explore" a presidential run.

It's worth remembering the theme of Jeb Bush's last book on why we need more immigrants.  As John Derbyshire put it, he just doesn't like Americans very much.

And so the Republican Party has come to this—a candidate whose only discernible idea is contempt for the party's own base.
