As I’ve mentioned, the one group that has, on the whole, not lost its head over the Hate Hoax fad of the 21st Century has been local cops. They are used to people lying to them, so when a Jussie Smollett-type brings them a cock and bull story that the national media and Democratic presidential candidates are going crazy over, they tend to ask tough questions.
But cops have gotten little appreciation for this service.
Perhaps the future will instead be cops themselves joining in all the fun and making up their own anti-cop Hate Hoaxes. From KSNT in Kansas:
Chief: Local officer resigns after making up coffee cup incident

JUNCTION CITY, Kan. (KSNT) – In a joint press conference with McDonald’s Monday night, the Herington Police Chief said the coffee cup incident was a hoax.
Chief Brian Hornaday said McDonald’s didn’t have anything to do with writing obscenities on an officer’s coffee, and that it was “fabricated by a police officer no longer employed with the agency.”
