07/10/11 - A Los Altos, CA Reader Says It's Time For Action!

Re: Linda Thom's article Why Are 400,000 Illegal Aliens In Washington State Driving With Licenses?

From: Steve [Email him]

Thanks for a well-written article, very nicely linked to the appropriate verifiable information.  [VDARE.com note: As well as the usual links to news stories and online data, we provided   spreadsheet with 65,000 names of drivers with no SSN, and a PDF of a criminal information. ]

Still, the facts are obviously as follows: the majority of legislators and citizens in Washington State don't care at all how many people are murdered, raped, robbed, etc., as a result of the credibility and legitimacy gained through the possession of a driver's license.  (Not to mention the vote fraud issue...)

As I recall, there has been more than one attempt to introduce and pass legislation that would rectify this situation in the Washington State legislature; they never get out of committee.

Evidently, cheap labor is worth however much crime occurs.  Or maybe the liberals are being "compassionate."

Here's a quote I found on a website: Joseph Fort Newton, writing in the Atlantic Monthly, in October, 1922  on the Great American Sin of Apathy:

"What is the great American sin? Extravagance? Vice? Graft? No; it is a kind of half-humorous, good-natured indifference, a lack of 'concentrated indignation' as my English friend calls it, which allows extravagance and vice to flourish. Trace most of our ills to their source, and it is found that they exist by virtue of an easy-going, fatalistic indifference which dislikes to have its comfort disturbed….The most shameless greed, the most sickening industrial atrocities, the most appalling public scandals are exposed, but a half-cynical and wholly indifferent public passes them by with hardly a shrug of the shoulders; and they are lost in the medley of events. This is the great American sin."

Apathy. The seventh stage of a civilization nearing the end of its existence.

But thanks for clearly stating the case regarding Washington State issuing driver's licenses without verifying anything.  Apathy and corruption—that's the answer to the last question in your article: Why officials in both Washingtons want this to continue.  I believe we can throw stupidity into the equation somewhere too.

James Fulford writes: The process of adding links for verification is not unique to VDARE.com, but I think we do it as well as anyone out there, and frequently better than the New York Times and Washington Post. I've been known to mention it during fundraising appeals.
