What a shocker. Not since the fall of the Berlin Wall has Europe seen such a moment. The top moment? Watching Wolverhampton, the hometown of Enoch Powell,
voting 68-32 percent for Leave. True conservatives are, by nature, pessimistic and this one did not think that Little England would prevail over the London heavyweights. But they did.
I only wish that our Little England—Middle America
—can summon up that same iron in the blood this fall.
Who knows? Maybe there will
“always be an England.” For now, the ghost of Enoch Powell smiles over Wolverhampton.
