Jared Taylor's article School Suspensions: More Official Baloney on School Suspensions

From: Oliver Williams [Email him]

Mr. Taylor neglects to mention the fact that most overtly contradicts the view that racial discrimination is the cause of the racial discrepancy in school suspension rates: much of the data in the report that he cites(Indicators of School Crime and Safety: 2011) is taken from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance System.

This data is from surveys filled in by students themselves. It is therefore free of the alleged ‘racism’ of teachers.

  • More black and Hispanic students reported being in physical fights on school property than white or Asian students.
  • They also reported using alcohol and marijuana on school property more often than whites and Asians.
  • Hispanic students also disproportionately reported carrying a weapon to school.

While spurious allegations of the racism of judges, cops, teachers etc are routinely made, it is harder to refute data that is provided by blacks and Hispanics themselves.
