This image is from a New York Times Story, 3-Day Fast Is Latest Call to Overhaul Immigration. The Statue of Liberty should not be treating the flag that way, and would know that if he or she had been raised in America. I can't tell if the Statue impersonator is an immigrant, or was raised in Manhattan, but neither group is raised to respect the flag.

As for the original statue, it really is a magnificent monument, but it was meant as a monument to Liberty, not immigration. As Kathy Shaidle has said repeatedly: "A bad poem on an old French statue is NOT an immigration policy. ..."
