From the Minnesota Independent, a leftwing Minnesota website:
War on Christmas comes to Minnesota Cub Foods' parent in rightwing group's crosshairs By Andy Birkey 11/19/09 10:45 AM Digg Tweet The religious right's annual ”War on Christmas” is ramping up early this year, and at least one Minnesota-based company is on its hit list. For the past few years, the American Family Association has targeted retail corporations that use the word ”holiday” instead of ”Christmas” in their holiday marketing. On Thursday, the group said it’s a trend that began with the Nazis.
Yes, not only did the American Family Association say that, but Britain's Daily Telegraph said so recently:
How Hitler and the Nazis tried to steal Christmas The Nazi Party tried their best to remove Christ from Christmas by paganising carols, producing glittering swastika, iron cross and toy grenade baubles for the fir tree, research for a new exhibition has found. November 17, 2009
And Tom Piatak said the same thing in 2001. But that's not the point—the point is that they casually assume that it's the religious right which is carrying out this war. It's not. They're just fighting back.
