Mohamed Mohamed, 26, and Ali Abbari, 21, charged in relation to Sunday’s stabbing incident in Ottawa

THE Ottawa Police Service Central District Investigations on Monday charged Mohamed Mohamed, 26, and Ali Abbari, 21, both of Ottawa, in relation to the stabbing incident on William Street on Sunday morning.

Both men have been charged with four counts of aggravated assault, four counts of assault with a weapon and three counts of fail to comply.

A third male suspect was released without charges.

The Ottawa Police Service responded to two separate stabbing incidents which occurred in the ByWard market overnight. Investigators are looking for the public’s assistance.

The first incident occurred on Saturday at 10 p.m. at Waller Street and Rideau Street. One male victim was stabbed and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released from hospital. An unidentified suspect, described as a white male in his mid 20’s fled the scene.

The second incident occurred on Sunday at 1:42 a.m. on William Street between York Street and George Street. Five male victims were injured, four of them stabbed. All victims have since been treated. Their injuries are non-life-threatening.

Three suspects were taken into custody on Sunday. The suspects are not known to the victims.
