I wonder what went on at Google to lead to this? African-Americans don’t hate Churchill, so far as I can tell. Of course, even if they did, Google allows very, very few African-Americans to touch the code. The main Churchillphobes are Asian Indians, of whom a lot work at Google.

iSteve commenter Mr. Anon riffs:

We shall kneel on the beaches, we shall kneel on the landing grounds, we shall kneel in the fields and in the streets, we shall kneel in the hills; we shall always surrender.

As I pointed out in 2016, Google has long been promoting hilariously woke lists of “American inventors,” “American mathematicians,” and “American scientists.” For example, here are “American mathematicians” right now:

Strangely, however, Google’s list of “American scientists” has been somewhat de-wokeified at the moment:

I have no idea who #4 Brian Hayes is or why he shares Winston Churchill’s ignominy.

But this is a new phase because previously Google was just engaging in hyping minor black worthies rather than deleting the pictures of white heroes.

Also, Google is memory-holing the immensely popular 1939 movie Gone With the Wind:

The childishness of the Purges is striking, highly reminiscent of Mao’s Cultural Revolution in its adolescent attitudes. But the Red Guards at least had the excuse of being actual adolescents, while Google only employs grown-ups.
