Earlier: Uvalde Mass Killing Shooting: Won’t Be As Enthralling To The Media As Buffalo

It’s impossible to draw trustworthy conclusions about the tiny sample of mass killing shooters, but one obvious possibility is that the enormous attention paid to the 18-year-old who shot up a Buffalo supermarket full of blacks on May 14, 2022 for white racist reasons encouraged the 18-year-old Uvalde shooter to buy guns last week a few days later and carry out a similar massacre on May 25, 2002.

In my 2012 Taki’s Magazine column, I labeled this kind of mass killing shooters as “Monsters of Egotism.” Attention-seeking sounds like one plausible motivation. In response, the press has downplayed use of shooters’ names in recent years. But in the case of white killers of nonwhites, it can’t help itself from going hog wild in giving them attention.

But, who knows for sure?
