A day after being freed from federal custody, an immigration rights activist was in Washington on Tuesday to attend President Trump’s State of the Union.
Ravi Ragbir, a citizen of Trinidad and Tobago who leads the New Sanctuary Coalition of New York, was released from Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention after more than two weeks in custody.
Ragbir and his wife, Amy Gottlieb, traveled to Washington after Rep. Nydia Velazquez (D-N.Y.) offered Gottlieb an invite to Trump’s address.
Rep. Yvette Clarke (D-Brooklyn) offered Ragbir an extra ticket on Tuesday after learning of his release so the couple could attend together. …
Ragbir, arrested on Jan. 11 after a routine check-in with federal officials, previously served 30 months in prison for wire fraud because of work he did for a crooked mortgage company.
Just in case Americans hadn’t yet noticed just how much the Democrats hate them.
The New York Daily News has been giving a lot of coverage to heroic Mr. Ragbir’s struggle with the Drumpf Regime. Who owns the New York Daily News these days? What is its business strategy?
I’m reminded of when about 40 years ago Rupert Murdoch supposedly had one of his ad salesman at the New York Post, then at a particularly trashy nadir, try to sell ad space to mighty Bloomingdale’s department store. The poor salesman was rejected with the explanation: “Your readers are our shoplifters.”[Comment at Unz.com]
