See earlier: VDARE.com Is Building A Fortress—Visible And Invisible.

The most exciting part of our Fortress is visible (the content published at VDARE.com, and our beautiful historic headquarters, the Berkeley Springs Castle). But it’s the invisible that makes all of this possible. Discussing VDARE Foundation’s Initiative Number Three, “Expand various forms of legal, electronic, and physical protection for VDARE.com assets,” Lydia Brimelow, our President and Publisher, elaborated:

It is not enough that Left want our website shadow-banned, demonetized and ultimately taken down. They want our whole back office wiped out, too. That is why VDARE.com is working toward open-source back-office solutions and away from Big Tech.

The precedents have been set. Planning and executing defensive measures is expensive in time and money, but absolutely essential for the survival of our organization.

One of these defensive measures is cryptocurrency. We can’t count on Big Tech to do the right thing, so we must teach ourselves and our supporters to use alternative methods of funding our fight!

See all of our crypto addresses here. (Now including USDC thanks to the advice of a good friend of VDARE.com. We love you! You know who you are!)

If you too want to be proactive in adopting cryptocurrency, and don’t know where to begin, we can help with that! Follow these steps below to become a cryptocurrency wiz. And if you have further questions or just want some live support, don't hesitate to call our office at 860-361-6231.

Create An Exchange Account

Exchanges like KrakenBinance, and Gemini allow you to buy and sell bitcoin and other cryptocurrency.

Coinbase is an exchange with high name recognition and fast account approval, but it is run by Leftist censors who actively block bitcoin donations to VDARE.com, so if you intend to donate to us, don't go with Coinbase.

Luckily, there are myriad alternatives. For a full list of Bitcoin exchanges available in your country, check here. And if you already use Coinbase and would like to send VDARE.com a donation from there, please contact Lydia Brimelow at [email protected] for a workaround.

Buy Your Cryptocurrency

Once you have an exchange account, you can link your bank account and buy cryptocurrency. Bitcoin and Etherium are the most popular. Litecoin brags a low transaction fee and fast block approval time [Investing in Litecoin (LTC) – Everything You Need to Know, by David Hamilton, October 25, 2020, Securities.io]. Monero is a preferred option for many due to its ability to help anonymize users [Six Private Cryptocurrencies, by Shobhit Seth, December 24, 2020, Investopedia].

VDARE.com accepts all coins. If you would like to donate a coin that isn't listed on our donate page, please email Lydia Brimelow at [email protected]  to make arrangements.

Guard Your Cryptocurrency

Investing in cryptocurrency can be lucrative, so hackers are abundant. Think of it this way—you’re bypassing the banks and their censorship; but you’re also now solely responsible for keeping your money safe. For the most part, following these two steps will keep your money in your wallet:

  1. Make sure your exchange account is secure. Use a long, complex password and opt for two-factor authentication (Kraken, Binance, and Gemini mentioned above all offer 2FA). Bitwarden is one of many open-source password managers which can help you create and store complex random passwords.
  2. As you accumulate cryptocurrency, use a software wallet like Exodus or a physical hardware wallet such as Ledger or Trezor (Trezor and Exodus work together). These wallets store your cryptocurrency off the exchange where only you can access it using a twelve-word password (called "seed words"). Your seed words are the key to accessing your assets. Memorize your seed words and never share them with anyone. It’s the crypto equivalent to storing those crispy Benjamins under your floorboards.

How To Donate Cryptocurrency

Now that you have your cryptocurrency, you can donate to your favorite 501c3 Nonprofit (Like VDARE.com!) and receive a tax-deduction!

If you are donating to VDARE.com via cryptocurrency and would like a tax-receipt:

  1. Make a test donation before sending a large amount of money. Back to the circumventing-banks concept: there is no insurance if your cryptocurrency goes to the wrong address. Using the QR codes on our Donate Page will make this easier. But it’s a good idea to double check the address before sending. Please call the office at 860-361-6231 or email Lydia at [email protected] to alert us that it’s on the way, and we can confirm with you once it’s arrived.
  2. Let us know you would like a tax-receipt. Cryptocurrency transactions are anonymous to us, so please email us with the transaction ID to make sure you get credit for your generosity!
