A Reader Says Let Boot's Foreign Legion Stay Foreign

[VDARE.COM note: Shortly after posting Joe Guzzardi's column on the Minuteman Project, we received this email]

From: Jim Gilchrist

Dear VDARE,

Due to an overwhelming response from the public for The Minuteman Project, we are temporarily halting the recruitment of any more volunteers, except for those possessing certain special vocational skills, or who intend to commit to 15 days or more.

Currently, we have 1,022 volunteers from all 50 states.

Please visit www.minutemanproject.com home page for more details regarding the decision to temporarily stop recruiting.

Cheers,

Jim Gilchrist - The Minuteman Project - Americans doing the jobs Congress won't do.

www.minutemanproject.com  Operating within the law to support enforcement of the law.

Of course, this is a great triumph for Jim Gilchrist, Chris Simcox of Civil Homeland Defense and the other enterprising and patriotic citizens who have created the Minuteman Project, in the teeth of bitter opposition from the local establishment.

We might also say that it is a triumph for the Immigration Reform group of web sites, who have given this effort the publicity Big Media would dearly like to have withheld.

While the organizers are clearly swamped with work at present, it seems to us, e mail storage capacity being what it is, that those seriously interested in participating should continue submitting their volunteer information - as the site suggests. This would enable the creation of a valuable register for (inevitably necessary) action in the future.
