Re: James Fulford’s blog post Corrupt Police In Immokalee, Florida—Not Entirely An Immigration Problem

From: A Reader In Immokalee, FL [Email Him]

You need to get your facts correct before you start writing articles about Immokalee .I have lived here all my life and never have I ever been a victim of violence and I am 52 years old. When I was in my teens I worked in packing houses after school and I would walk home at one or two in the morning and never experienced any type of violence.

The problem with Immokalee is that 99% of the people that live here are minority and people that don’t live here don’t understand the way of life here, so they write on what they hear not on facts.

James Fulford writes: The reader is probably too close to the problem to know what’s wrong—like people who live in big cities, he has no idea what it would be like to live in a low crime area. I do realize what the problem in Immokalee is.

Here’s the crime rate for Immokalee.(Lower Crime Index=Worse, with 100 being safest.)

Immokalee

Here are the demographics. (Immokalee isn’t 99 percent minority, it’s more like 97 percent, or putting it another way, it’s 3 percent white.)

Here’s the crime rate for Greenwich, CT.

Greenwich, CT

Here are the demographics, roughly the inverse of Immokalee's. So we do have facts. They're just not very good facts.
