Re: Hispanic Heritage Month Letter Signed By The Secretary of the Army, Chief of Staff of the Army and Sergeant Major of the Army [PDF]

From: "Spirit Of Fighting 69th" [Email him]

The Army has sent out an announcment of Hispanic Heritage Month with  note saying:

"The following message is sent on behalf of the Directorate of Equal Employment Opportunity.

National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated from 15 September to 15 October. This year's theme is "Many Backgrounds, Many Stories...One American Spirit."

It begins

“Hispanic Americans trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean, yet throughout American  history they have always come together in service to our Nation and our Army. It is therefore fitting, that for this years’ National Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the theme of “Many Backgrounds, Many Stories. . . One American Spirit.”

Aside from the historical rubbish in the first paragraph, the powers that be ignored V-E Day and V-J Day. Seems they also forget the Mexican and Spanish-American Wars and the US interventions in Central America, Wilson's landing troops in Vera Cruz, Villa's murders in Columbus, New Mexico and Pershing's pursuit into Mexico.
