Resurfacing, I find a vintage War Against Christmas season is in full swing. Senator Jim Inhofe’s principled stand against the stripping of “Christmas” from the Tulsa Christmas parade name obviously alarmed the other side. No doubt they feared other Congresscritters would break the taboo and get involved in the controversy. So they laid down a Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert/Keith Olbermann barrage of derision (which I hope to discuss later), if anything heavier than that which caused me to ask in 2006 If there’s no War on Christmas, how come they deployed an Army?

And of course Google Alert on the subject is swamped with War on Christmas Deniers, frequently expressing themselves scabrously.

At VDARE.com we consider our War against Christmas archives (now in their 12th year!) a comprehensive refutation of this absurd claim.

But H/T Da Techguys’s Blog for supplying a succinct and timely War on Christmas proof:

ACLU WARNS SCHOOLS TO SAY "HOLIDAY" VS. "CHRISTMAS" BY COOKEVILLE TIMES.COM DEC 8TH 2010

School superintendents across the state were reminded by the ACLU this week that holiday celebrations focusing primarily on one religious holiday amount to an unconstitutional endorsement of religion.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) letter, addressed to 137 public school leaders across the state, stated that it was responding to a number of complaints from families about school party activities this Christmas season.

Hedy Weinberg, ACLU executive director in Tennessee, cited several U.S. Supreme Court decisions about the matter.

Tennessee is over 80% white and moreover that population has one of the highest concentrations of Founding-stock Americans in the country. Tennesseans are overwhelmingly Christian and comparatively observant. Unquestionably the tradition has been to acknowledge that heritage in public venues paid for by Tennessean’s tax dollars. The ACLU- Tennessee has declared war on that tradition.

Under Hedy Weinberg’s direction the ACLU-TN has been tackling the ethnic situation too. Systematic opposition to ICE enforcement, implementation of Real ID, and efforts to follow Arizona's Immigration law enforcement effort clearly demonstrate an unwavering commitment to turn Tennessee into an Hispanic slum.

Wish Hedy Weinberg a Happy Christmas (amongst other things).
