The Boston Globe has unhappily and misleadingly posted: Trump’s lead holds in poll and Haley overtakes DeSantis for second place among N.H. voters (by Matt Stout and Emma Platoff, October 4, 2023).

Punch line:

Donald Trump holds a 30 percentage-point lead over the pool of Republican rivals churning below him in New Hampshire, where the vast majority of his supporters say little, if anything, can shift their vote from the former president. [VDARE emphasis]

Trump is reported as having 49% of Republican voters.

David Paleologos, director of the Suffolk University Political Research Center, said “…with where we are today, it’s improbable" that any candidate other than Trump would win the New Hampshire primary. “You can’t get to Trump voters,” he said of the challenges the former president’s rivals face.

What an obituary to the American MSM that this dynamite news should be so buried.

However, we at VDARE have our own reason to be delighted with what is obscured within this account.:

Nearly three of five voters said the country should end birthright citizenship, which ensures that those born in the United States to noncitizens are citizens themselves. Ending it is a once-fringe idea that Trump championed during his term in the White House that has since taken root in the GOP mainstream.

I challenge anyone to dispute that VDARE has been earliest, and most aggressive in highlighting this jugular issue.

The herbivorous Inside the Beltway “Immigration Reform” outfits have always been MIA on this issue.

Frankly, I myself was unaware of this arcane subject myself until I read Peter Brimelow’s Alien Nation in 1993.

The foundational VDARE post which I believe is at the top of the food chain was Weigh Anchor! Enforce the Citizenship Clause (by Nathaniel Parker, August 31, 2001).

In essence, the 14th Amendment Citizenship Clause was meant to prevent Southern States arguing that a freed slave might still not be a citizen entitled to vote.

But it was also carefully crafted to prevent “Native Americans” aka Indians born on American territory being citizens and so voters. They were deemed to be citizens of their own nations:

Introducing the proposed amendment, Senator Jacob Merritt Howard of Michigan stated

Indians born within the limits of the United States, and who maintain their tribal relations, are not born subject to the jurisdiction of the United States. They are … quasi-foreign nations.

This obviously applies to the children of recent immivaders too.

Not allowing foreign individuals who happen to have been born in America to vote is going to be crucial to the political survival of the Historic American Nation.

It has been crucial to the survival to the Swiss Nation, where the presence of foreigners is of similar proportions to America.

Of course the Swiss elite wants Switzerland to survive.
