Somebody worked fanatically hard at concocting the coloring of this world map of the mythical Female Hotness Index:

I haven’t traveled that much, but my impression in 1980 from 6 weeks in Western Europe (never getting to Iberia or Scandinavia) was that Milan was clearly #1. Indeed, this map suggests a north to south decline in Italy.

For example, the fabricator, whoever he was (definitely not the New York Times), went to great efforts to indicate that Utah has more beautiful women than most of the rest of the inland West.

I can believe it. In 2004, I attended a preview screening of Napoleon Dynamite, to which director Jared Hess invited most of the young BYU alumni working in Hollywood. The Mormon starlets were probably the loveliest collection of young ladies I’ve ever seen.

You may wonder why Senator Mitt Romney is such a handsome septuagenarian, when his father, Governor George Romney, was merely forceful- and distinguished-looking.

I finally found a 1931 photo of Mitt’s exquisite mom, Lenore LaFount, an MGM starlet. Rising corporate executive George was being driven insane with jealousy by Lenore being in Hollywood on the other side of the country working with Clark Gable (the future Rhett Butler).

So, in what George Romney called the greatest sales job of his life (he went on to be CEO of #4 car maker American Motors and to shepherd the popular Rambler smaller car to market), he convinced Lenore to pass up MGM’s offer of a 3 year–$50,000 contract, at the bottom of the Great Depression, to marry him when he was making 1/3rd of what she could:

But, on the FHI map, you’ll note a tiny blue dot in-between Utah and the West Coast. I’m guessing that is supposed to represent the snow bunnies of Lake Tahoe.
