• 72-year-old Willem van der Westhuizen was killed during a farm attack near VanRyhynsdorp, Western Cape Province.

Reports say the victim died of a slit throat.

His wife, Christine, was reportedly bound and assaulted.

Reports say law enforcement agencies and police arrested 57 individuals for various crimes in the area between December 4 and 17, 2023.

• Jannie Weideman, 60, lost his life during a farm attack in Mogenzon, Mpumalanga Province.

”Weideman’s body was found in the living room by a neighbour after his concerned wife, who was away visiting a family member in Middleburg, could not reach him on his phone,” iol.co.za reported.

Stolen were a rifle safe, jewelry, and a Toyota Hilux.

Five suspects were arrested.

• Coen Van der Walt, 67, was killed during a farm attack in Amalia, North West Province.

Van der Walt was shot in the ribs and head.

Coen and his girlfriend, Linda Thomas, were attacked upon returning home after a shopping trip, rnews.co.za reported. The assailant reportedly broke into the home through the roof.

Van der Walt’s vehicle, two mobile phones, money, and a firearm were stolen.

A 52-year-old suspect was arrested. His father reportedly lived on the farm, where he was employed as a foreman.

• A woman named Nickey van der Westhuizen (59) was fatally shot at a farm in Onderstepoort, Gauteng Province.

It was something terrible.

This is how Francaise Pretorius (45) describes the armed robbery on Monday evening on a smallholding in Onderstepoort in Pretoria North in which he was wounded in the leg.

Pretorius was also badly traumatized after the robbers shot dead his neighbor, Nickey van der Westhuizen (59), in front of his eyes.

Francaise Pretorius, 45, survived a gunshot wound to the leg in the same attack.

Taken were cellphones and a laptop.

• 70-year-old Aria Smit was fatally shot in Schweizer-Reneke, North West Province.
• Rassie Smit, 69, was fatally shot at the Andeon Smallholdings farm in Gauteng Province.

Reports say there were two attackers.

• An 18-year-old security guard was shot during a farm attack at the Andeon Smallholdings farm in Gauteng Province.

Reports say the victim survived a gunshot wound in his upper body.

• Two farm workers were bound and held at gunpoint at a farm in Potchefstroom, North West Province.

Reports say the thieves stole firearms.

• A 17-year-old male was reportedly shot in the neck at the Zandfontein farm near Vaal Marina, Gauteng Province.

A cell phone was stolen.

• A 39-year-old male was reportedly assaulted and bound at a farm in Buffalo-Drift, Western Cape province.

There were three attackers.

• Mike Hubble and his wife were victims of theft at a farm in Mtunzini, KwaZulu-Natal Province.

Two cell phones were stolen.

• Barnie and Elmarie De Klerk were terrorized when gunshots were fired at their farmhouse in Stella, North West Province.
• Scant information is available regarding a female whose cell phone was stolen at a farm in Mooinooi North West Province.

Reports say the assailant held a revolver at the victim’s head.

• A number of farm workers were assaulted during a farm attack in Mokopane (Potgietersrus), Limpopo Province.

Stolen were household items, a small truck, and a solar system.

• Firearms and a vehicle were stolen from a woman at a farm in Orkney, North West Province.

Reports say the victim was bound. No other details were found.

• A Ford Ranger was stolen from a farm in Reivilo, North West Province.
