As most of you have heard by now, the DREAM Act amnesty bill passed the House on Wednesday night by a vote of 216-198. A cloture vote could come as early as Thursday morning in the Senate.

The DREAM Act that passed the House is the most viral of the four different versions in Congress. It has the potential to devastate what little is left of the job market and could almost obviate the H-1B program because of its provisions for work permits.

As if unemployment isn't bad enough the DREAM Act doomsday scenario will occur as work permits for illegal aliens are granted for those who can meet its very easy-to-meet criteria. Illegal immigrants that qualify will be issued a "conditional lawful permanent resident status" and a work permit.

THERE IS NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF WORK PERMITS THAT CAN BE ISSUED!

Millions of work permits could be issued, allowing them to legally compete with U.S. citizens for jobs. Currently illegal alien employees can be deported if they are caught, but the DREAM Act will make it almost impossible to deport aliens, so it effectively becomes an Inducement-Only Visa that Grants Amnesty.

H-1B lobby groups support the DREAM Act simply because so many H-1B visa holders overstayed their visa and then technically became illegal aliens due to being classified as out-of-status. It will be a simple matter for most of the former H-1B scofflaws to get amnesty by using the ample loopholes in the DREAM Act. Over time many of them had jackpot babies, and of course those children attended our schools, so they will also qualify for amnesty.

The numbers of out-of-status nonimmigrants is far larger than you might think and there has been ample time for large numbers of overstayers to embed themselves into our country. Consider the fact that the H-1 visa program has been around since 1952, the H-1B for 20 years, the L-1 visa for 40 years. Potentially, even larger numbers of foreign students stayed in the U.S. illegally after attending schools on J-1 and F-1 student visa programs.

It’s no coincidence that the largest percentage increase in illegal immigration is coming from the country that sends us the largest number of H-1Bs: India. What nobody cares to discuss is how many of them arrived with legal visas for tourism or nonimmigrant visas such as H-1B. Consider this, straight from the horse's mouth:

Indians in the US are not only the fastest growing Asian community, but also have the dubious distinction of being fastest-growing group of illegal immigrants in the country.

According to the American Community Survey of the US Census Bureau, the Asian Indian population in the US grew from almost 1,679,000 in 2000 to 2,570,000 in 2007. "Indians fastest-growing illegal immigrant group in US", Thaindian News, by Arun Kumar, August 2009

So, what can you do to help stop the DREAM Act from passing in the Senate? It won’t be easy because most of the phone mail boxes for Senators are full. That’s because the open-border traitor lobby has flooded the Congressional phone system in support of the DREAM Act while simultaneously another hot-button issue is galvanizing huge numbers of callers: ”Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, in the military.

Please work with your favorite immigration activist group or conservative political organization (if you can find a liberal one work with them also!) because most of them are trying to fight this cancer before it metastasizes.

Do not doubt for a second that Obama will hesitate to sign the DREAM Act. He has voiced support for it many years before he became president and he has continued to support the idea.

P.S. — Be sure to donate to Vdare.com because without their financial support for my blogging you will be unlikely to read about the connection between the DREAM Act and H-1B. If you donate to the "Rob Sanchez project" most of the funds will go directly to me, and I desperately need it because I just found out that my biggest supporter (not Vdare.com) is going to cut my funding by 20%. I might have to make painful choices such as getting rid of cable TV, which will blind me, and changing my DSL back to dial-up modem, which will silence me. Or, another choice which would allow me to make up for almost the entire funding cut would be to drop my health insurance because the premium in 2011 will be increased by 86%! I know times are tough for everyone but they will be even worse if every voice that opposes H-1B is silenced.
