The media has just noticed something we`ve been saying for years:
updated 1:05 p.m. ET, Thu., Sep. 16, 2010 More Americans living in poverty msnbc.com staff and news service reports The number of people living in poverty in America rose by nearly 4 million to 43.6 million in 2009 — the largest figure in the 51 years for which poverty estimates are available — the Census Bureau said Thursday.
A better headline might be "More people who aren`t American living in America." You get immigrants coming to the US directly from the Third World, of course they add to the poverty rate. See It`s Official: U.S. Importing Poverty, By Sam Francis, from 2002.
