Gun rights advocate Professor Glenn Reynolds writes at Instapundit

J.D. TUCCILLE ON Connecticut’s Outbreak of Civil Disobedience. “This successful example of mass defiance horrifies the editorial board of the Hartford Courant, which shudders at the sight of the masses not obeying an order that, history, tells us, never had a shot at wide compliance. But compliance with gun registration would have been a historical aberration. Gun restrictions of all sorts breed defiance everywhere they’re introduced.” I love the people who say you could never deport all the illegals, but who think you could lock up all the gun owners.[Emphasis added]

Gun owners in Connecticut, who own an estimated 372,000 guns classified suddenly as "assault weapons" haven't been turning them in, as the law, probably unconstitutionally, requires, so the Hartford Courant says lock them up. [State Can't Let Gun Scofflaws Off Hook | Gun Registration: Break the law, pay the price, February 14, 2014]

A quick Google of the Courant's attitude towards deportation  shows that when it comes to illegal immigrants, even illegal immigrants who are also thieves, the attitude of the Courant's editorial board is precisely "Let the scofflaws off the hook! Don't make them pay any price for breaking the law!"

This is what I was talking about when I gave speech we titled Gun Control—Like Immigration Law, Enforced Only Against Those Who Obey It.
