As Federale has highlighted, there’s a showdown (a Mexican standoff) about to happen at the border between the Texas National Guard and the U.S. Border Patrol. I stand firmly on the side of the Texas National Guard in this case.

I’m not against the line Agents out trying to do their jobs, but I am against the Border Patrol brass that is going along with unlawful, unconstitutional orders and so helps a massive invasion into the country.

Three illegal aliens drowned in the Rio Grande River near where the Texas National Guard took over a park. The Left rejoices when illegal aliens die because it allows them to push for more open borders. “They would be safe if you helped them across,” they seem to say. In actuality, encouraging them to invade the United States is what cost them their lives.

Unlike me, Texas Representative Henry Cuellar is siding with the U.S. Border Patrol’s management and thus the Biden administration in this dispute. “Border Patrol is reported to have blamed the Texas National Guard for letting the illegal immigrants drown. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) sided with the Border Patrol over the Texas National Guard. In the end, it looks like Mexican officials recovered the bodies because they were on the Mexican side of the border” [Biden Administration Demands Governor Abbott Stop Blocking Border Patrol Along the Mexican Border, HotAir.com, January 16, 2024].

Henry Cuellar has a “D” rating from NumbersUSA, which is to say, he doesn’t much care about border security beyond rhetoric.  The problem I have is that I have friends who support Cuellar. I find it incredible. The man will appear on TV saying we need more Border Patrol Agents and more security, then vote against that which he claims to support. Here’s an article claiming Cuellar said that Border Patrol and ICE need to be able to enforce the law.

Cuellar is saying one thing while doing the opposite. We don’t need more Border Patrol Agents as much as we need policy changes. Ideally, bringing back “Remain in Mexico” and shipping illegal aliens into the interior of Mexico to make their trek back to the United States more difficult.

Years ago, one of my colleagues proposed a plan he called “Mexico One.” His idea was that illegal aliens from all over the world (Africa, China, Brazil) enter the United States from Mexico. Afterwards, we send the deportees back by air to their individual home countries. Why do we do that? If it comes out of Mexico, it should go back into Mexico. Hence, Mexico One, the primary destination of anyone coming out of our great ally’s country.

We would save millions of dollars in deportation flights, and we would make Mexico feel the pain of immigration. I bet Mexico would crack down very rapidly on sending us the world’s huddled masses yearning for free stuff.
