Here at VDARE.com we have been in business for over 20 years, and for the entire period, we have reported on white Americans who have been arrested, in spite of not having committed any crimes (2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012a, 2012b, 2014, 2015; search also under “Janice Barton,” “Brian Swetnam,” and “Jeremiah Munsen”). Unsilenced Science’s chart of average SAT scores by race from 1941-2019 has attracted accusations of bias due to his or her using easily recognized colors to represent each race: e.g., a black line represents blacks while a yellow line represents Asians. THE NEW YORK TIMES HONORS MEMORIAL DAY AS ONLY THEY CAN: Why Does the U.S. Military Celebrate White Supremacy?

I'd seen this vile thing, but unlike Instapundit, and actor James Woods below, I had failed to connect it to Memorial Day:

What the New York Times Editorial Board is condemning is the existence of places like Fort Bragg, home of the Airborne, which commemorates Confederate General (and graduate of West Point) Braxton Bragg.

After crowing about its success in linking the Confederate Battle Flag to "white supremacy" and bannning it, in Orwellian fashion, everywhere from stores to statehouses, after Dylann Roof's Charleston mass shooting, the New York Times goes on:

This same toxic legacy clings to the 10 United States military installations across the South that were named for Confederate Army officers during the first half of the 20th century. Apologists often describe the names as a necessary gesture of reconciliation in the wake of the Civil War. In truth, the namings reflect a federal embrace of white supremacy that found its most poisonous expression in military installations where black servicemen were deliberately placed under the command of white Southerners — who were said to better “understand” Negroes — and confined to substandard housing, segregated transportation systems and even “colored only” seating in movie houses. (Link in original)

The post-war reconciliation between North and South—based on mutual respect beteeen the mostly white combatants on both sides—may have been the the most important factor in America's rise to world greatness.

One thing that, it seems to me, is much more apparent than it was three months ago: we are living in a bipolar world, or soon shall be.

I know a bipolar world when I see one. I spent my first 45 years in one: the world of the Cold War, dominated by the USA and the USSR.

That bipolar world ended twenty-nine years ago. For a while thereafter the USA stood supreme, economically and militarily.

We still do, actually, on indices like per capita GDP and forces deployed overseas. Communist China's been coming up fast, though. It's plain they are aiming for parity with us, regional—I mean, in Asia—if not global. Perhaps they are aiming for global dominance.

Whether they are or not, we are heading into a bipolar world once again. People are waking up fast to this. The coronavirus pandemic has us thinking and talking about China in a way that we weren't before, not in the public realm at any rate. Some sour-faced skeptics and grouches on the commentarial fringes, like your acerbically genial Radio Derb host, were talking that way; now it's well-nigh universal.

As I write this, China's national legislature, the National People's Congress, has just completed the first day of its 2020 annual session. Here are a couple of headliners from this first day:

  1. For the first time in thirty years, there will be no announced target for GDP growth this year—that's Gross Domestic Product, a key economic indicator.
  2. There will be revisions to the Basic Law that defines the status of Hong Kong. The point of the revisions will be to "safeguard national security in Hong Kong." [NPC: China's congress will be about Hong Kong, the virus and the economy, BBC, May 24, 2020]

What does any of this mean. And why should Americans care?

To take the first part of that question first: What it means is that these are some of the decisions worked out by the ChiCom Party bosses in secret meetings these past weeks.

Our Ruling Class in Britain and America recently decreed that is now acceptable to report race differences in the incidence of Covid-19, partly because minorities seem to be hardest hit and it sees a chance to blame whites. This is something of a pyrrhic victory for a young British sociologist called Dr. Noah Carl, right, who was fired last year from Cambridge University for “problematic work” on “race and intelligence” which might “legitimise racist stereotypes” and which hurt the feelings of some of the college’s students [Cambridge college sacks researcher over links with far right, By Richard Adams, The Guardian, May 1, 2019]. Carl’s “problematic” work included an academic journal article [How Stifling Debate Around Race, Genes and IQ Can Do Harm, Evolutionary Psychological Science, 2018] in which he had the temerity to suggest that suppressing the concept of “race” might lead to just as many social problems as not doing so—one of which would be ignoring race differences in the ability to fight off different diseases. This is exactly what has now happened.

As part of the academic and journalistic mobbing that pressured Cambridge University into firing Carl, Carl’s article on this subject was specifically highlighted, in the leftist Guardian newspaper, who subtly presented it as evidence of Carl’s wickedness: “…he has previously defended his work on race and genetics by arguing that ‘stifling debate around taboo topics can itself do active harm’” [Cambridge gives role to academic accused of racist stereotyping, By Richard Adams, The Guardian, December 7, 2018]. I reported on this here as part of my coverage on the mounting Leftist War On Science

More recently, Carl has penned a careful and detailed article arguing, in the most systematic way I have yet seen, that genetically-caused race differences in Vitamin D deficiency is the most parsimonious explanation of the race differences in fatality from Covid-19 [Why Are Non-White Britons More Likely to Die of COVID-19?, By Noah Carl, Medium, May 17, 2020]

See also: Yes, Virginia (Dare), There IS A GOP War On Women!—Campaign Consultants Prey On Naive Millionairesses Like Terri Lynn Land

Every poll shows Arizona Senator Martha McSally (R.-AZ) losing to Democratic opponent Mark Kelly. Which raises the question of why the GOP keeps backing women like her. Answer: just as Stupid Party consultants thinks pandering to blacks will win the black vote, they believe nominating female candidates will win among “suburban women.” And so the party routinely picks terrible candidates, who just happen to be tight as a tick with the GOP ruling class elites—such as Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, another creation of the GOP Brain Trust. Problem: It doesn’t work. Campaigning on an immigration moratorium will.

McSally looked good on paper. A 22-year Air Force veteran with a Masters from Harvard, she was the “first woman combat pilot.” (A product of Affirmative Action, of course, she is not to be confused with Robin Olds or Steve Ritchie). She represented AZ-2 in Congress, now presents herself as a strong supporter of Donald Trump, and has even moved right on immigration.

But McSally must pose as a Trump supporter to win rural Arizonans who didn’t vote in 2018. Her act doesn’t fool anyone, except perhaps Jared Kushner [The fighter pilot takes on the astronaut: McSally’s 2020 Arizona mission, by James Arkin, Politico, March 1, 2020]. She’s an empty Establishment suit in a skirt and high heels. That’s exactly why the Establishment picked her to succeed Jon Kyl—the longtime Arizona senator who temporarily filled John McCain’s vacant seat—after her defeat in the general election for Arizona’s other Senate seat in 2018.

If McSally were in the dock facing an America First prosecutor, this would be his indictment:

ORANGE ALERT! AMLO To Sweet-Talk Susceptible Trump Into An Amnesty?

Patriots beware! Mexican president Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (“AMLO”) is scheduled to meet with President Trump in July. One possible topic for discussion: Amnesty for illegal Mexicans, Milenio reports:

[AMLO] suggested the possibility of proposing a migratory reform to his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump, with the purpose of regularizing the Mexicans who live in that country without legal documents. During his morning press conference, he admitted that this subject might be dealt with during his possible future visit to the United States, planned for July, to express appreciation for the support of that country during the COVID-19 epidemic and the fall in oil prices.

[AMLO analiza proponer reforma migratoria a Trump (“AMLO considers proposing a migratory reform to Trump”), by Pedro Dominguez, May 5, 2020]

As I’ve noted before, despite being on the Left, AMLO goes out of his way not to criticize President Trump. And note one purpose of the get-together: to thank Trump for helping Mexico.

That isn’t good for us, given Trump’s notorious susceptibility to flattery and emotional appeals.

Let AMLO cajole and wheedle all he wants, Mr. President. But don’t “regularize” a single illegal alien!

Mexico Continues To Deport Central Americans

Mexico most emphatically does not want “migrant” Central Americans heading for the U.S. border to add to its Coronavirus problem. So the Mexican immigration agency has been unflinchingly deporting them:

[The agency] repatriated 4,303 foreign citizens from March 21 to date, leaving only 231 persons in its migratory stations. As a result, it has avoided any outbreak of coronavirus COVID-19 in those centers.

[Migración evitó contagios de coronavirus repatriando a más de 4 mil extranjeros (“Migration Avoids Spread of Coronavirus by Repatriating More Than 4,000 Foreigners”), by Fernando Damian, Milenio, May 12, 2020]

Most of the deportees were reportedly from the “Northern Triangle” of Honduras, Guatemala, and El Salvador, which don’t much appreciate Mexico’s hard-nosed virus policy.
