Last week's item about jaywalkers in New York City brought in some emails. It referred to complaints that city cops issue jaywalking tickets disproportionately to Sun People, i.e. blacks and Latinos. Sun People are only 55 percent of New Yorkers, but they get 90 percent of tickets for jaywalking. Obviously New York cops are practicing flagrant racial discrimination.

A listener with long experience working in the city's courtrooms tells me that summonses are only issued to those who run but can be caught in a foot pursuit. So the statistics factor in the obedience of perps and the relative athleticism of perps and cops. Not sure how that plays out.

Another listener notes that the hateful racism on display in the issuance of jaywalking tickets is also seen in summonses for fare evasion in the city subway system. New York State's Attorney General (Letitia James, right) a black female radical, wants police to stop enforcing the law on fare-beating.

Meanwhile there have been ructions in one of the city's school districts. The New York City Schools Chancellor is another far-left radical, a Gringo-hating Latino supremacist named Richard Carranza. (Right. )Noticing that students being disciplined for misbehavior in city schools were disproportionately Sun People, Carranza [Tweet him] has ordered principals to stop traditional disciplinary procedures in favor of "restorative justice."

Listeners to Friday's Radio Derb heard me say this at 14m16s into the podcast: There's a chicken-and-egg issue with the supply of tech workers. If we bring in a great mass of foreigners to do software development, that zone of employment becomes foreignized. That has two negative consequences: As blogger Half Sigma observed in the classic text on this back in 2007, foreignization on that scale re...

On the holiday set aside in 2020 to honor Martin Luther King, the premier advocate of nonviolent Gandhian civil disobedience, thousands of gun owners gathered in Richmond to petition peacefully for their rights.

King had preached that there was a higher law that justified breaking existing laws that mandated racial segregation.

When Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat in the front of the bus in Montgomery, when Freedom Riders integrated bus terminals, when black students sat at segregated lunch counters in North Carolina, they challenged state law in the name of what they said was a higher law.

And Virginia gun owners believe their moral obligation to protect families, friends and themselves in a violent society justifies their right to keep and carry firearms, no matter what the Virginia legislature says.

Americans have a long history of breaching laws in the name of a higher law or God-given rights.

As Eugene Gant notes below, Martin Luther King is frequently claimed as either a conservative, or in some cases a member of the Republican Party. Historically, black support for the Republican party was was common before the 1930s, because Republicans were the Party of Lincoln, just as the white Solid South support for Democrats was because the Democrats were the Party of not-Lincoln. For any and all American patriots in Virginia and across the nation who plan to attend the pro-Second Amendment rally in Richmond on January 20, please consider this sage advice: DON’T! Virginia’s Leftist governor and his Main Stream Media enablers put a target on your back with an emergency order, a court ruling to back it up, and the latest go-to smear: “white nationalist.”  Don’t walk into another trap like the one the same Democrat-controlled state government set for the Unite The Right rally in Charlottesville in 2017.

If you want to know what you’re in for, or what these people think of you, consider NBC’s tweet that put gun-owners in the crosshairs of a full-bore attack from the hate-white Left:“As gun rights activists, white nationalists and militia groups prepare to rally in Virginia on Monday, residents are praying it won’t be a repeat of the violent 2017 rally in Charlottesville that ended in a woman's death.”

Also, see this now-deleted Tweet from NBC reporter Ben Collins, that simply calls it a “white nationalist rally” and implores reporters not to put out counter-Narrative facts that will make them heroes in “neo-Nazi propaganda circles”.

James Fulford writes: Peter Brimelow wrote the article below in 2015, and proposes to keep posting every year at this time until we, so to speak, Overcome. I want to update it with recent revelations about Dr. King’s conduct.

In 2018, Clayton Bishop asked  here On Martin Luther King Day: Will #MeToo Do To The MLK Myth What Plagiarism, Adultery, Communism, Haven’t—Yet?

He was talking about suggestions in FBI files and biographical material that MLK’s notorious womanizing may not have been entirely consensual, but might involve the women being “pressured and coerced” into what the FBI, who had King under surveillance,  described as “an unnatural act”.

There has been confirmation of that since, in May of 2019, when King biographer David Garrow, unable to find a US magazine willing to go there, published this in the UK’s Standpoint magazine: The troubling legacy of Martin Luther King | Newly-revealed FBI documents portray the great civil rights leader as a sexual libertine who ‘laughed’ as a forcible rape took place, May 30, 2019.

For VDARE.com coverage of that see:

FBI files on Martin Luther King held in the National Archives are sealed until 2027. They haven’t revealed all of them yet, but we know there’s more.

When the late Sam Francis was working for Senator John East, East's office received a letter from retired FBI official, Charles D. Brennan, a former Assistant Director of the FBI who stated that

he had personally been involved in the FBI surveillance of King and knew from first-hand observation the truth about King's sexual conduct—conduct that Mr. Brennan characterized as  "orgiastic and adulterous escapades, some of which indicated that King could be bestial in his sexual abuse of women." He also stated that "King frequently drank to excess and at times exhibited extreme emotional instability as when he once threatened to jump from his hotel room window." In a study that he prepared, Mr. Brennan described King's "sexual activities and his excessive drinking" that FBI surveillance discovered. It was this kind of conduct, he wrote, that led FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover to describe King as "a tom cat with obsessive degenerate sexual urges" and President Lyndon Johnson to call King a "hypocrite preacher." Mr. Brennan also acknowledged:
"It was muck the FBI collected. It was not the FBI's most shining hour. There would be no point in wallowing in it again. The point is that the muck is there. It is there in the form of transcripts, recordings, photos and logs. It is there in great quantity. There are volumes of material labeled 'obscene.' Future historians just will not be able to avoid it."
It is precisely this material that is sealed under court order until the year 2027 and to which the Senate was denied access prior to the vote on the King holiday. [The King Holiday and Its Meaning, February 26, 2005]
So if you read VDARE.com you knew 15 years ago what historian Garrow and the general public only recently discovered. Now read on to find out why, even without that, MLK Day is a bad idea.

VDARE.com Editor Peter Brimelow writes: I’ve decided to keep on reposting my 2015 essay questioning the utility of Martin Luther King Day until we, so to speak, Overcome. (See 2016, 2017, 2018 2019. Note that, while Robert E. Lee Day is fixed, Martin Luther King Day is set to be celebrated on the third Monday in January, and so fluctuates).

Infuriating to all who care about America and its history, this last year proved that traditions and heroes can indeed be attacked and undone, from the peerless Robert E. Lee to George Washington. But perhaps this is heartening to those of us who’ve had it with Martin Luther King Day—the wheel turns, and even that monstrous statue may one day be cut down to size.

Unfortunately, 2017 also made seem more likely the possibility I allude to below: that by 2027, when King’s FBI files are due to be released, criticism of him will be banned as “Hate Speech.” America took a real step toward totalitarianism in Charlottesville, VA, on August 12, 2017 when a lawful assembly protesting the proposed vandalism of a Robert E. Lee statue was repressed and physically attacked by elected, uniformed, civilian and paramilitary Democrats, followed by an obviously pre-planned nationwide pogrom against Dissident Right individuals and outlets that were not remotely connected with the rally (i.e. VDARE.com). Significantly, the publication of the Heaphy Report, which confirmed VDARE.com’s account of Leftist and police culpability, has made absolutely no difference to the MSM/ Ruling Class Narrative...because they DON’T WANT TO KNOW

Another ominous trend I note below is also in more evidence this year: radical Leftists asserting that MLK was one of them, as of course he was: e.g. If Martin Luther King Jr were alive today, politicians would denounce him, by Stephen W. Thrasher, The Guardian, January 15, 2018; Giving Up Patriotism and Integration Myths for MLK Day, by William C. Anderson, Truthout, 2018.  Thus, typically, Anderson [Tweet him] writes

The currents of white supremacy that are intrinsic to the US political system should lead us to question the system's purpose and reason for existence.

The “system’s purpose and reason for existence,” of course, is that the American Republic was founded as, and remains in its essence, a white ethnostate. The cusswordwhite supremacy” has simply come to mean the very existence of white America and, what the Left is desperate to prevent above all, its dawning self-awareness—as exemplified by its decisive vote for Donald Trump.

Happy Robert E. Lee Day! His January 19 birthday was once widely celebrated across the South (it still is mentionable in Alabama) but during the Second Reconstruction has been quietly suppressed to the point where even such a devoted son of the Confederacy as American Renaissance’s Jared Taylor was unaware, when I talked to him on Sunday night, that its local variant in his and Lee’s state of Virginia, Lee-Jackson Day, was supposed to be celebrated last Friday. (Not surprisingly—it seems to have been recently crudely scrubbed from Virginia’s webpage).

But there’s a silver lining, sort of, in this tale of attempted historical lobotomy: it shows that public holidays come—and they go. Martin Luther King Day, rushed through Congress with Obamacare-style disregard of process in 1983, has been by now weighed in the balance for almost thirty years. It has inarguably (but unmentionably) been found wanting. It is time for it to go.

And in fact, I believe it will go, or at least be quietly suppressed like Robert E. Lee Day. The reasons:

  • MLK Day’s 2027 Problem
It is obvious to everyone that there is a reason King’s FBI files were sealed for fifty years back in 1977, and only the Main Stream Media’s typically relentless Politically Correct air cover prevented this flagrant maneuver from discrediting the Martin Luther King Day legislation in 1983.

The problem that these sealed files pose, the MSM/ Ruling Class determination to repress it—and incidentally the unimpeachably reasonable nature of the MLK Day opponents’ position—emerged at President Ronald Reagan’s famous October 19, 1983 press conference:

The British Royal Family is in crisis. Less than two years after marrying Meghan Markle, the brother of the future king has ceased to be royal. And it’s got everything to do with “race.” Even Alt-Lite commentators such as Sargon of Akkad agree that the problem is Meghan Markle’s flawed character. But what Sargon fails to understand is that her type of flawed character is disproportionately associated with mixed black-white race people—exactly as I warned at the time of her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018: “She’s Trouble”—But So Is He! Evolutionary Psychology Says Meghan and Harry Will Divorce.

Harry and Meghan, now widely mocked as the Prince and “Princess of Woke” [Please America, take Meghan Markle back, By Rod Liddle, Spectator USA, October, 2 2019], have plunged the House of Windsor into what The Sydney Morning Herald has described as its worst catastrophe since the abdication of King Edward VIII in 1936 [Prince Harry’s attempt to protect Meghan will make her a target for hatred, by Bevan Shields, The Sydney Morning Herald, January 9, 2020]. It has been lost on nobody that this abdication was brought about by King Edward’s insisting on marrying a famously self-centred American divorcee, Wallis Simpson.
