A press release from NASA: NASA to Reexamine Nicknames for Cosmic Objects Aug. 5, 2020 Distant cosmic objects such as planets, galaxies, and nebulae are sometimes referred to by the scientific community with unofficial nicknames. Back in 2015, I pointed out that on California campuses, such as UCLA, student government politics offer an interesting foreshadowing of future American politics, with the dividing line often coming down to PoC vs. Zionist. This summer at USC, the student body president, Truman Fritz, a white guy who looks like a less butch Neil Patrick Harris, was forced out for, as far as I can tell, being whit...

One problem with being as old as Joe Biden is that you remember what words used to mean, not what they mean today. When Joe was building his vocabulary, “diverse” meant “showing a great deal of variety.” So, Joe thinks, Hispanics are really diverse: some arrived in the U.S. yesterday, some have had ancestors in New Mexico for 400 years; some are white, some black, some that other thing; some speak...

Well, Senator Ted Cruz’s August 4 Senate hearings on Antifa terrorism were at least a start. But Cruz’s apparent strategy of exposing Antifa and expecting elite journalists to explode in outrage is a failure. These journalists know exactly what the group is doing—and support it. The Trump Department of Justice needs to actually use state power to break up Antifa networks and arrest those committing crimes. As of now, the “authoritarian” Trump Administration has used far more force against its own supporters than it ever has against those whose stated goal is to destroy the country.

Cruz’s hearing didn’t lack for dramatic rhetoric. “This shouldn’t be complicated: peaceful protests must be protected,” the senator said. “Riots must be stopped” [FBI has opened 300 ‘domestic terror’ investigations as a result of riots, attorney tells Capitol hearing on Antifa, by Marisa Schultz and Adam Shaw, Fox News, August 5, 2020].

Still, Cruz took a defensive tone throughout. The riots were bad because they had “hijacked” protests from those “who took the street because their hearts cried out for justice” [Here’s What You Missed From The Congressional Antifa Hearing, by Samantha Renck, Daily Caller, August 5, 2020]. He appealed to the memory of flawed Leftist icons Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr. He also said the “rioters aren’t concerned about racial justice” but are “racist” themselves because they “destroy minority communities” and “minority businesses and minority lives across this country.”

Of course, Senator Cruz isn’t wrong with that last point. Mobs have destroyed minority businesses in many cities. Nonwhites are the ones paying most of the price from increased crime [Michael Tracey: Minority business suffering in Minneapolis following rioting after George Floyd’s death, by Michael Tracey, Fox News, July 8, 2020].

But it shows the senator’s acceptance of the Left’s moral frame and the American Right’s need to hide behind nonwhite mascots. Antifa may be extreme and a lot of them may be white, but it doesn’t follow that they don’t sincerely oppose “racism” as they define it. They just think nonwhite casualties are collateral damage, much like how John Brown began his infamous raid by shooting a free black man in the back [Was John Brown’s 1st Victim Black, by Henry Louis Gates Jr., The Root, December 16, 2013].

When Vice President Calvin Coolidge ascended to the presidency on the death of Warren Harding in 1923, a wag remarked that Silent Cal's career had exhibited unmistakable signs of celestial intervention.

Governor Coolidge vaulted to national attention during the Boston police strike of 1919, where, in a stinging letter to Sam Gompers of the AFL, he thundered: "There is no right to strike against the public safety by anybody, anywhere, any time."

If Joe Biden becomes president, celestial intervention, once again, cannot be ruled out.

Consider.

By Ann Coulter on 08/05/2020

The entire mainstream media (plus Fox News!) have been assuring us that Portland was a tranquil town, with the occasional peaceful protest … until President Trump’s storm troopers showed up and turned it into a war zone.

This portrayal contrasts markedly with videos that have been posted on Twitter every night for more than two months now, especially by @MrAndyNgo, showing helmeted psychotics hurling Molotov cocktails at the police, among other acts of mindless destruction.

Whom to believe? Videos of the riots? Or smug journalists telling us that they saw nothing untoward?

Luckily, there’s the Newspaper of Record to give us the truth. Unluckily, The New York Times sent … Nicholas Kristof, aka the most easily fooled journalist in America.

Kristof assured Times readers that the Portland crowds are “entirely peaceful,” until around 11 p.m., when “some protesters begin to shoot fireworks or set small trash fires.”

Small trash fires.

Also: the federal courthouse, the Justice Center offices, statues, the Portland police union hall, and a decapitated pig’s head, among other arsons.

But Kristof [Email him] also dismissively remarked: “No, they’re not trying to burn down the federal courthouse.” Do not trust the dozens of videos showing protesters trying to burn down the federal courthouse.

He further reports that—just as MSNBC has said!—“the most violent behavior overwhelmingly comes from the federal agents.”

So there you have it. You can believe the man who said, “Mao’s legacy is not all bad,” or you can believe your lying eyes.

Michelle Malkin On Colorado Springs: Freedom Of Assembly Under Fire and also, by Peter Brimelow, Courtroom Crusades: VDARE.com’s Fight For Free Speech In CO Springs—An Update, and support VDARE.com's Legal Defense Fund

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO.—In June, America’s mass media propaganda machine endangered the public by spreading insidious “disinformation” — while purporting to debunk “disinformation.”

The New York Times, NBC News, CNN and the Associated Press converged nine weeks ago to persuade readers and viewers that neither antifa rioters nor Black Lives Matter militants were fanning out from major urban areas into flyover country. Law enforcement bulletins and citizen alerts about the metastasis of violent demonstrations all amount to “misinformation,” “bad information,” “false information,” “unfounded rumors” and “conspiratorial content,” the Gray Lady scoffed.

NBC News and CNN exploited a single fake antifa Twitter account to dismiss nationwide concerns of domestic terrorism as “viral misinformation.”

The AP blasted “baseless theories” about encroaching violence and castigated “conservative news outlets and pro-Trump social media accounts” for reporting on them.

In short: Don’t worry. Be happy. Blame Righty.

The “progressive” Anti-Defamation League—headed by Jonathan Greenblatt, a Clinton/Obama official and former George Soros-funded operative — amplified the fraudulent media campaign. “There has been no evidence of antifa or Black Lives Matter organizing or carrying out attacks on suburban or white communities,” the ADL declared, and the “large-scale protests following the murder of George Floyd” were “overwhelmingly peaceful.”

Fact check: ADL = All Damned Lies. AP = Anarchist Propaganda. CNN = Chaos-Nurturing Network.

Leftist women seem to be emerging as the “New Church Ladies”, as Jim Goad has called them. In an extraordinary expose, American Conservative columnist Rod Dreher recently reported that even Democrat operatives worry privately that “hard left women” incensed by Hillary Clinton’s defeat have “completely taken over the middle management of the party” and are “allowing their rage to guide them,” for example forcing the firing of a young data analyst, David Shor, simply for reporting evidence that the Martin Luther King riots damaged Democrats in the 1968 election [Big Sister is Watching You, June 24, 2020]. And watched any of the coverage of Black Lives Matter riots will be struck by one unavoidable question: Why are so many of the participants women—especially young women?

I reported a while ago on the evidence that more than 50% of young, extremely liberal females have been diagnosed with depression. There is also evidence that females are far more socially conformist than males. But according to a new study, published by the National Policy Institute, these are but two of a whole of host of factors which help to explain why such a large percentage of BLM protestors are young women.

The study—entitled “The Next Great Awakening” [June 27, 2020] and researched by independent academic Edward Dutton—argues that BLM should be understood as a kind of “religious revival.” It notes that it has all of the central components of traditional Christianity (dogmas, group-orientation, despising the outgroup, even over-detecting agency—evil racists though, rather than God’s presence) except metaphysical belief.
