The issue hurting Georgia's workers. H/T One Old Vet

Fresh from their triumphant repression of any mention of Senator Session’s gallant Senate attack on Administrative Amnesty last Thursday, the new regime at RedState (Leon H. Wolf, Commissar) has furnished a classic example of how their shutdown on Immigration discussion cripples GOP advocacy with disastrous electoral consequences.

Democrats Say What’s Good for the Nation is Terrible for Georgia [by Erick Erickson September 23, 2014] tries to counter

This past week in Georgia the Democrats pounced on new data that Georgia has the highest unemployment rate in the nation. The Democrat were, frankly, giddy at the news.

by saying

The Democrats even attacked a CNBC study that ranked Georgia as one of the top states in which to do business…Georgia is now ranked sixth nationally in job growth and third in the south.

More and more people who have been sitting out Barack Obama’s economy are now starting to look for work again. That influx into the job market spiked the unemployment rate. But the Democrats cannot celebrate that. It would hurt their chances of victory.

Erickson’s argument is a political failure for the reason I discussed in Powerline's Hinderaker: GDP Per Capita Key To Amnesty/Economic Growth Claim (Or, The Toilet Paper Fallacy). His counter argument may appeal to business owners in the state but not to workers seeking employment and hoping for better wages.

In fact as Erickson who lives in Georgia must know very well the immigration issue has just recently offered those who choose to use them lethal counter arguments to the Democrats.

Refugee Resettlement Watch reported on September 16, 2014

The Center for Immigration Studies has had an on-going project of reporting which states have a high percentage of jobs going to immigrants while the native-born Americans working has declined.

We previously reported on their statistics from Tennessee, Florida and North Carolina.  Now it’s Georgia’s turn.  Here at CIS:

....an analysis of government data shows that, since 2000, all of the net increase in the number of working-age (16 to 65) people holding a job in Georgia has gone to immigrants (legal and illegal). This is the case even though the native-born accounted for 54 percent of growth in the state’s total working-age population. Perhaps worst of all, the labor force participation rate of Georgia’s natives shows no improvement through the first part of this year despite the economic recovery.

Georgia joins other states where immigrants are getting all the jobs

Topping this off was last week’s report Georgia’s foreign-born population up by 5 percent since 2009,  [AJC.com September  18, 2014] which the Drudge Report more effectively headlined Immigrant population in GA approaches 1 million.

So the reason Georgia workers are not benefiting from the local job surge is because the Obamacrats have failed to enforce the immigration laws. Discouraged Georgia natives are fully entitled to return to the workforce: illegal immigrants are not.

I do not believe that Erick Erickson, who has done good work in the past and who has improved a great deal this cycle, is unaware of this. Indeed it is possible that he originally intended to refer to it. But he was probably censored.

RedState’s Neocon management would rather lose elections than block the transformation of America.
