Gingrich

Does America really have to stomach Gingrich?

I concur with Larry Auster in deploring Newt Gingrich’s recently reported surge in the GOP Presidential race polls.

According to the NumbersUSA Presidential Hopeful tracking service Gingrich has a deplorable D- ranking – as bad as Perry. (Michelle Bachmann is a B-, three grades above anyone else.)

Gingrich’s rank is hardly a surprise since his decade-long Congressional stint only got him a D, derived from being good on border control and terrible on everything else (a similar pattern to current House Majority Leader Eric Cantor).

But worse than this is his recent servile Hispandering, as documented for us by Matthew Richer in Newt Gingrich: The Aspiring Americano President. And beyond this, his subservience to big Slave Power donors like Helen Krieble. Richer noted:

"Gingrich specifically credits Helen Krieble's influence in his book Real Change, where he also calls for tripling the number of H1B Visas allotted per year. Given that in the last decade, we have given out as many as 150,000 H1B Visas in a single year, that would amount to as many as 450,000 H1B worker visas annually.

How is any of this possibly going to benefit American workers? Answer: Gingrich doesn't care. He cares about major donors, like Krieble."

In fact, Gingrich’s immigration stance is so inimical to the views of the GOP electorate that it attracted puzzled attention from political journalists earlier this year, as I noted in   Newt Gingrich and GOP Nomination: Accepting Treason Lobby Veto. Unfortunately, Matthew Richer is probably right about major donors. An important element in Gingrich’s activities in recent years is his relationship with gambling billionaire Sheldon Adelson. See Gingrich's financial angel — a casino mogul with legal woes By Michael Isikoff MSNBC.com 4/1/2011

According to the leftist blog ThinkProgress

"Adelson’s Las Vegas Sands corporation is by far the largest donor to Gingrich’s 527 group, American Solutions, giving $1 million each in 2010 and 2006, and a whopping $5 million in 2008."

Interesting issues for future debates – if mentioning immigration is ever allowed again.
