I did not read the latest Kevin Williamson article The Father-Führer
, March 28, 2016] as it was behind a paywall (25 cents) but a writer at the Daily Caller
read and wrote about it.
Williamson, a long-time critic of The Donald, essentially agrees that he doesn’t support any policies or rhetoric directly tailored to the working-class — particularly about jobs being taken by outsourcing and immigration — because it would be wrong to do so.“It is immoral because it perpetuates a lie: that the white working class that finds itself attracted to Trump has been victimized by outside forces,” the NR roving correspondent writes. “[N]obody did this to them. They failed themselves.”“The truth about these dysfunctional, downscale communities is that they deserve to die. Economically, they are negative assets. Morally, they are indefensible,” the conservative writer says. “The white American under-class is in thrall to a vicious, selfish culture whose main products are misery and used heroin needles. Donald Trump’s speeches make them feel good.”While Williamson blames the people living in run-down white communities for their own woes, he does not apply the same principle to run-down minority communities. In his book and articles on the failures of Detroit, for instance, the National Review writer blames “progressivism” and unions for ruining the predominately African-American city.National Review Writer: Working-Class Communities ‘Deserve To Die’, by Scott Greer, March 12, 2016
The conservative establishment’s hatred for its base is really coming out of the closet. They desire to elect a new people as much as the Democrats do.James Fulford writes: We've seen a lot of bad Kevin Williamson articles, but this should win some kind of prize. I'm not going to read it and deconstruct it (someone at Radix did—From Con to Consciousness, by Hannibal Bateman, March 14, 2016) but it puts me in mind of "anti-racist" agitator Tim Wise's infamous An Open Letter to the White Right, On the Occasion of Your Recent, Successful Temper Tantrum, in which Wise wrote
your kind—mostly older white folks beholden to an absurd, inaccurate, nostalgic fantasy of what America used to be like—are dying. …And in the pantheon of American history, old white people have pretty much always been the bad guys, the keepers of the hegemonic and reactionary flame, the folks unwilling to share the category of American with others on equal terms.Fine, keep it up. It doesn’t matter.Because you’re on the endangered list. And unlike, say, the bald eagle or some exotic species of muskrat, you are not worth saving...
The sin that normal white people—the Republican base—had committed was defeating Obama in the midterm elections. Now Williamson is angry that Trump is going to defeat Hillary. Since it's St. Patrick's Day, I'll mention that hating the white working class has been Williamson's position since the 1870s. He wasn't actually around in the 1870s, but he once wrote, in attacking affirmative action in California that
California has a long and ugly history of discriminating against Asian Americans. From the Anti-Jap Laundry League, the Anti-Chinese League, the Asiatic Exclusion League, the alien land laws, the Anti-Coolie Act . . . the list is long. Much of that discrimination had its origins on the left, with the Ant-Jap Laundry Act, the Asiatic Exclusion Act, and the Anti-Coolie Law being in the main projects of organized labor, which did not like the idea of being made to compete against Asians for work.[Return of the Anti-Chinese League | Dems want California’s universities to resurrect an ugly institution. NRO, March 16, 2014]
I wrote in 2014 [A Tribute To Dennis Kearney On St. Patrick`s Day, Contra NATIONAL REVIEW ] that the thing about the "Anti-Coolie Law" is that American labor, organized or unorganized, didn`t want to compete with slave labor. "Coolie" means "indentured servant".However, the main point about the recent anti-209 agitation is this—Steve Sailer said that
White politicians would have to come up with some principled argument framed in Kantian terms for why legislation intended to hurt white children is bad for everybody. Asians can`t be bothered.
An the proof of that is that, Williamson, a "mainstream" conservative, can`t attack Affirmative Action, which is aimed at hurting whites, without going on a historical crying jag about whites` cruelty to Asians.
