The boom in American petroleum production (cracking, shale, natural gas) has the potential to make us energy independent in a decade or so. The benefits would include surplus in trade balance, and freedom from the Muslim OPEC nations’ blackmail.

The burden of 50 million more energy consumers will certainly derail that. As VDARE.com has often pointed out, the environmental crowd has sold out to big money interests, but the energy aspect may not have been covered.
