10/16/08 - An Illinois Reader Has No Confidence In Election 2008

In anticipation of the 2009 World Day of Migrants and Refugees, Pope Benedict XVI called for "special attention" to migrants. In other words, he wants more of them in his country and ours.

Through his spokesman Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martino, president of the Pontifical Council for the Pastoral Care of Migrants and Itinerant People, the Pope's message is that:

"The problem of immigration is not resolved by closing borders. There are over 200 million people who live outside their countries of origin, driven by misery, hunger, violence, wars, ethnic rivalries, but also by the desire for a better life."  [Pope Calls for Immigrant Welcome, ANSA Italia, October 8, 2008]

The Pope should stay out of economic and political matters since, among the other problems this creates, it lessens his credibility in religious issues.

I am Catholic school-educated and am an usher in my Church. My background and strong faith makes it hard for me to be critical of the Pope.

But I am a patriot and am outraged by his immigration anarchism.

May God truly bless America, especially now in our very troubled times.
