Twenty years of vigorous defense of the Historic American Nation and just beginning
20 years ago, when VDARE.com Editor Peter Brimelow launched this site, he named it after Virginia Dare, the first English child born in the New World, in 1587.
Peter recognized that Virginia Dare’s story, once a fixture of every American’s grade school education, had fallen out of fashion, edged out by the multicultural agenda.
Today, another story from America’s heritage that VDARE.com is determined to keep in fashion is particularly relevant: This year marked the 400th Anniversary of the Mayflower Compact—signed November 21, 1620.
The Mayflower Pilgrims’ suffering and sacrifice are critical elements of their story, but it is their dissent in the face of powerful persecution, their survival against the odds– indeed the fact that they flourished and did so with orderly, voluntary self-government– that inspires patriotic Americans today.
The Pilgrims had enormous impact on the world. Among their estimated 35 million descendants are a dozen Presidents including both Adamses, both Roosevelts and both Bushes, along with many other notables as diverse as Humphrey Bogart, Marilyn Monroe, Amelia Earhart, Astronaut Alan Shepard, Warren Buffett and Winston Churchill.

In a development of precisely no interest to the Main Stream Media, the antiwhite Southern Poverty Law Center ($PLC to VDARE.com) lost its founder, Morris Dees, longtime chairman Richard Cohen and several other top officers in a 2019 coup reportedly related to internal racial tensions and a sexual harassment scandal. Michelle Obama’s former Chief Of Staff Tina Tchen (who got Jussie Smollett off the hook) was brought in to smooth things over, which seems to have resulted in the 2020 appointment of another childless first generation Chinese immigrant, Margaret Huang, right, [Tweet her] as the new President and CEO. Huang celebrated the election by tweeting “Now the hard work begins - we must eradicate racism and white nationalism”—a.k.a. white identify. Something else the SPLC is eradicating from its website: any pretense that it was ever critical of black supremacism.
There’s precedent for this: in 1919, Vladimir Lenin gave a famous speech to a crowd of Soviet troops in Sverdlov Square, Moscow. In the foreground was Leon Trotsky and Lev Kamenev. During Joseph Stalin's government, the photograph was edited to remove Stalin’s former rivals:

The “Biden Rush” has already begun. October’s tally of illegal alien apprehensions at our southwest border was 69,237, up 20 percent from September’s nearly 58,000, and up a mind-boggling 305 percent from April.
That’s not surprising: in the age of the cell-phone, potential infiltrators are acutely aware of the U.S. political climate[Biden win bolsters asylum seekers' hopes of policy shift, By Laura Gottesdiener, Jose Luis Gonzalez, Reuters, November 7, 2020].
"By Saturday morning, shouts of joy began to ring out in the camp where hundreds of asylum seekers have been stuck just across the river from Brownsville, Texas, under President Trump's hardline immigration policies." https://t.co/yphpCZupMW

But perhaps more surprising: October 1 was also the end of the Federal government’s Fiscal Year 2020, so we now know that an appalling total of some 2 million apprehensions occurred in President Donald J. Trump’s first term (303,916 2017, 396,579 FY 2018, 851,508 FY 2019, 400,651 FY 20.20) despite his heroic struggle against the Deep State (and do-nothing Congressional Republicans). Actual infiltration is assumed to be some multiple of apprehensions. So what would happen under a Biden Administration—which absolutely, positively wants to Elect A New People?
Since fiscal 2012, the data show, border agents have apprehended 4 million infiltrators. To put that number in perspective, that’s twice the population of Houston, Texas—and, remember, that’s just the ones who were caught.
Illegal infiltration under Trump has been through several stages. (See chart).

Network television used to love “conflict,” and the more acrimonious and hate-filled the better. As pack animals, humans are fascinated by intense disagreements, especially between their leaders, and by fights in general [Why Do We Enjoy Watching Other People Fight?, By Christian Jarrett, Science Focus, 2020]. So intense political conflict means more viewers and more add revenue. But clearly this doesn’t apply to the disputed Trump-Biden election. All the Main Stream Media has adopted the “narrative” that “Biden is the President-Elect,” essentially ignoring the “conflict” happening behind the scenes, rendering their broadcasts bland and hardly worth watching. Why?
After all, you would think that the networks would be elated. Able to present the U.S. as a country in crisis, on the brink of self-destruction, there could be constant, dramatic, rolling news bulletins—all of them more than paying for the commercials by which they’d be regularly interrupted. Biden-supporters would ardently insist that their man won “fair and square,” Trump supporters would deplore the “steal” and insist they weren’t going to give in. News networks used to live for situations like this—as they did during the Gore-Bush “conflict.” What happened?
A key part of the answer: we live in a remarkably different world from that of the year 2000. As I have reported before, the U.S. has suddenly become much more polarized. Modelling by Russian biologist Peter Turchin, Professor of Evolutionary Biology at the University of Connecticut, has found that America is as polarized now as it was at the beginning of the Civil War. This has led him to predict that the 2020s will be a decade of quite incredible strife and unrest. The causes he highlights:
