How Horrible Is The Arbery/McMichael Verdict? HORRIBLE, For All White Americans

After Kyle Rittenhouse was found to have acted in self-defense during the riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, there was some hope that the three defendants in the Arbery case might be acquitted. There are similarities: Mr. Rittenhouse shot the first man, Joseph Rosenbaum, when he lunged and tried to take away Mr. Rittenhouse’s rifle.

The shaky, incomplete video of Arbery’s death shows something similar. Travis McMichael does not fire until Arbery appears to run right into him and tries to take away his shotgun. The greatest difference, of course, is what led up to the moment when Rosenbaum and Arbery each closed on armed men and tried to wrestle away their weapons. An almost identical three-second encounter led to an acquittal in one case and life in prison for the other.

Scott Greer, popular on Twitter and Telegram, reflected the dismay of many when he wrote:

Both the Arbery and Rittenhouse trials send a clear message to white Americans that they can’t defend themselves without grave consequences. Yes, Kyle got off, but it took millions of dollars and a hell of a lot of trouble to do so.

Mr. Greer’s gloomy conclusion might be even more justified if he had cited the verdicts in the case against the participants in the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. In Sines v. Kessler, indigent defendants had to contend with “expert witnesses” hired by the plaintiffs to explain what their words had really meant, and were found guilty of conspiring—sometimes with people they didn’t even know—to violate the rights of Charlottesville residents and to commit racial violence.

Earlier, by Peter Brimelow: Manafort, Marlborough, And Robert E. Lee: Criminalizing Policy/ Personnel, Differences—U.S. Politics Regressing To The Primitive

At VDARE.com Editor Peter Brimelow’s urging, I recently read Winston Churchill’s biography of his great ancestor John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough. One of the great captains of history, Marlborough is not well known in the Anglosphere today. Some might know of him because of a frivolous film, The Favorite, that reduced extraordinary figures like Queen Anne and Sarah Churchill into sexually depraved, petty gossips [The Favorite: From Queen Anne to Sarah Churchill, does the film do justice to the real women it portrays?, FirstPost, March 6, 2019]. The true story is, as usual, far better than what today’s degenerate culture can give us.

Still, anonymity or being turned into a character in a piece of smut might be a better fate than outright demonization. And that’s where Winston Churchill is going as the United Kingdom continues frantically to pile up its own funeral pyre. The sacrifices the British made to save their Empire in World War II were, in retrospect, pointless at best and counter-productive at worst. The Empire, Churchill’s one consistent love in his long political career, is gone, and “English liberty” can only be considered as a sick joke [Once Great Britain Under Occupation, by Gregory Hood, American Renaissance, December 1, 2017]. Churchill himself seems doomed to go down as just another racist white male. One wonders if he would have made the same choices if he could see what he was unleashing on his country and Empire.

But literature lives on, whether a civilization or people rises or falls. And whatever else one may say about Winston Spencer Churchill, the man could write. I strongly urge everyone to read this book as much to learn about politics as history.

Indeed, the comparisons to our own time are striking. Brimelow pointed out that we appear to have regressed to a world in which, as in Marlborough’s time, imprisonment, financial ruin, lawfare, and death are just occupational hazards of engaging in public life. Personally, I think this degeneration is a necessary phase, though I am cowardly enough to wish it didn’t have to be this way: there’s no way out but through. We all must suffer for the betrayals and failures of our leaders.

Beyond that, I want to make some informal observations I took from this book—some of the ideas I'm working on in my own current book and also topics I hope to discuss with some of you when we address Marlborough in the Book Club.

Ann Coulter’s column This Thanksgiving, Joy-Ann Reid Has Much To Be Thankful For isn’t really about Thanksgiving, it’s about ingratitude. Ms. Reid is the daughter of African and Guyanese immigrants, born and raised in the United States, but ungrateful to it, and is always going on about the American slaves from whom she is not descended.

VDARE.com covered this in an earlier article by me:  The Thanksgiving Of A Grateful Nation—And The Ingratitude Of A Few.

Those ungrateful people were mostly Indians, not happy about living in a white society—rather than, I suppose, the brutal savagery that prevailed before 1492.

Speaking of 1492, the Women’s March, which contains, as far as I know, very few American Indian women (it’s a Coalition Of The Fringes of Leftist blacks, Palestinians, and Jews, arguing with each other, with regular American women, if any, disinclined to argue for themselves as usual), felt obliged to issue this Tweet:

Why such a sourpuss, Joy-Ann? On the whole, life and MSNBC are treating you pretty well. And yet, over the last 10 years, you have complained pretty much nonstop about how badly you, and “people who look like [you],” are treated in America.

I will take on faith, Joy-Ann, that your life up to age 16—spent in the racist hellscape that was 1980s Denver, Colorado—was practically a maelstrom of cross burnings, Night Riders and segregated water fountains.

Let’s focus on the recent past.

Consider:

  • You were admitted to Harvard with SAT scores that would have gotten an Asian kid disowned by his parents.
  • You manage to keep your show at MSNBC with ratings that would get a white person canceled.
  • People try harder to laugh at your excruciating jokes than they would for a male of any race.
  • Plus, I have it on good authority that no one at MSNBC has pestered you about touching your hair.

The Jewish financier George Soros is allegedly the “bugaboo of European nationalists” [A veto gives the rule of law in Poland a reprieve, The Economist, July 29, 2017]. Born in Hungary, and escaping Nazi occupation to Britain and then America, this nonagenarian now  uses his millions to fund such groups as the “Open Society Foundation” and the “Central European University,” which spread multiculturalist propaganda to the point where Hungary’s nationalist government drove it out [Democracy is in recession, academic freedom is in danger,’ by Nathan Greenfield, University World News, November 3, 2021]. For whatever reason, Soros seems to want to destroy nation-states and political order in general. Why is this? Could he be…a Sabbatean Frankist?

In Kevin MacDonald’s much-denounced “Culture of Critique” model, Jews are supposedly motivated to undermine anything that promotes a sense of European nationalism and unity, because this aids Jewish ethnic interests. In the words of Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society head Leonard Glickman, when asked why HIAS was importing Muslim Somali Bantus into America: “The more diverse American society is the safer [Jews] are.”

But could there be something even more sinister involved? After all, it’s not at all clear that mass immigration—and this is specifically what Soros promotes—is actually “good for the Jews.” Apart from anything else, it involves bringing large numbers of Arab Muslims into Western countries. And Arab cultures are the most anti-Semitic in the world, according to surveys [Survey: One-quarter of the world harbors anti-Semitic sentiment, by Lauren Markoe, Washington Post, May 3, 2014].

I dare you to look, with a clear and unfiltered lens, at the bloody nightmare we once called the United States of America.

Connect the dots. Contemplate the utter chaos in every major city while Black Lives Matter militants, academics and bureaucrats prattle on about "systemic racism" and "two-tiered justice." It's about much more than the horrific mass murders and attempted murders in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where the annual Christmas parade will now forever be stained by the wanton acts of alleged killer Darrell Brooks—a convicted sex offender and domestic abuser who sailed through George Soros–funded Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm's soft-on-black crime revolving door like a Six Flags season pass holder.

Look at Philadelphia, home to another Soros-funded DA, where four black teenage girls beat the stuffing out of a group of Asian students on a SEPTA train in broad daylight last week. The lead aggressor, a hulking female in a hijab, brutally punished one Asian girl for asking her to stop harassing her friends. Viral video shows how Ms. Islam-Is-Peace tackled the intervener to the ground and beat her over the head with her shoe and clenched fists. Not a single adult intervened.

Un-prosecutor Larry Krasner, who campaigned on "restorative justice" policies to protect black teenage criminals from prison sentences, has now filed "ethnic intimidation" charges against the SEPTA gangsters. But who would he have believed if there had not been video? And what would he have done if the victims were white?
