A few years ago, the University of California Board of Regents, incensed that Asians are pulling away from blacks and Latinos on SAT scores, demanded than an expert panel of professors nominated by the UC Academic Senate study whether the SAT actually complemented high school GPA in predicting whether students could survive the rigors of U. of California colleges. The faculty experts reported back ...

The horrors of Wokeness in higher education have been a staple of conservative commentary for decades—at least since the publication of Roger Kimball's book Tenured Radicals back in 1990.

So the recent flap at Yale Law School did not cause me to swoon in astonishment. It is, though, an exceptionally nasty specimen of Higher Ed Wokeness: partly because it's an incident all of whose points (as they say at dog shows) are very well defined—the pettiness of the imagined offense, the spineless cowardice of college administrators—but also because this is Yale Law School, just about the most prestigious incubator of ruling-class nobility.

Here is the offense. A second-year law student is of part-Cherokee ancestry and so—of course!—a member of the Native American Law Students Association (NALSA). He is also a member of the Federalist Society, which is an association of Establishment Conservative lawyers, law professors,  and law students—all six conservative justices currently on the U.S. Supreme Court are members.

This student sent an email round to classmates on September 15th inviting them to a Constitution Day party event two days later jointly organized by both those clubs, NALSA and the Federalists. The party would be held, he wrote, at "our very own (soon to be) world-renowned NALSA Trap House." Refreshments would include "American-themed snacks like Popeye's chicken and apple pie" [A Yale Law Student Sent a Lighthearted Email Inviting Classmates to His ‘Trap House.’ The School Is Now Calling Him To Account., by Aaron Sibarium, Free Beacon, October 13, 2021].

The consequences of mass immigration are indistinguishable from those of military conquest, and invaders are now increasingly comfortable about speaking in such terms. Thus another “caravan” of Haitians is being formed south of the border and its leader, supposedly a dual citizen of Mexico and the U.S., brags about being ready for “war.” The Biden Administration is doing nothing to stop this, but it is halting enforcement actions against workplaces using illegal labor. And it has set loose more than 100,000 illegals, regardless of Covid vaccination status, while simultaneously pushing massive pandemic restrictions on actual Americans. This isn’t simply a mistake. It’s a deliberate attempt to turn America into the Third World, so the Left can reign over one giant Haiti. It’s obviously treason, except for the fact that many of those imposing these policies never considered themselves American to begin with.

Let Irineo Mujica, who is reportedly leading one of these caravans, speak for himself—migrants are coming “with or without papers” and they are “ready for war”:

Indeed, it’s even something of a jihad, as he claims God is with them [New Haitian caravan heading for U.S. border in 20 days, activist says, by Julian Resendiz, WGN9, October 6, 2021]. Mujica is apparently a dual citizen of America and Mexico [Irineo Mujica, FrontLineDefenders, Accessed October 13, 2021]. This has been a long-time racket for Mujica, as his Pueblo Sin Fronteras group organized the “caravan” of 2018. So it’s no mystery who is behind these caravans. Why won’t immigration law enforcement—and,  for that matter, the FBI—refuse to arrest someone who is openly saying that he will break America’s laws?

"When sorrows come," said King Claudius, "they come not single spies but in battalions." As the king found out. So it seems with President Joe Biden, who must be asking himself the question Merle Haggard asked: "Are the good times really over for good?" Consider the critical issue with voters today: the state of the economy. Inflation in September stood at 5.4% year on year. With prices of food and...

Earlier: Peter Brimelow Anticipated French Rightist Intellectual Eric Zemmour On "Hitler's Revenge"

Most Americans have never heard of him, but last Wednesday, October 6, a French polling organization announced that journalist Eric Zemmour had surpassed Marine Le Pen to become the number one challenger to incumbent Emmanuel Macron in France’s next presidential election, scheduled for April 2022. An astonished pollster said: “We have never seen such a meteoric rise in such a short time” [Présidentielle 2022: un nouveau sondage donne Zemmour en duel avec Macron au second tour!, LaLibre.be, October 6, 2021]

Zemmour is an unlikely hero for the French nationalist right. The son of Berber Jews from Algeria, he is 63 years old and has never held public office. But he has enjoyed a long career in journalism and has been a familiar fixture on French television since 2003. In 2014 his book The French Suicide became a bestseller. It provides a handy overview of France’s political blunders since the 1970s with a focus on immigration and the new laws against “ethnic incitement” which make it dangerous to criticize. He has himself been prosecuted under such laws several times and convicted once [French journalist convicted on racism charge over drug dealer comment, by Angelique Chrisafis, Guardian, February 18,  2011].

Zemmour considers himself a Gaullist, i.e., part of the mainstream right, but particularly since publication of The French Suicide, he has usually been described as “far right.” In France as in the rest of Europe, this term refers to all who wish to see substantial cuts in extra-European immigration, regardless of their views on any other issue. The Respectable Right actively or passively supports the Great Replacement, or at best grumbles and proposes ineffective measures. It collaborates with the dominant Left in maintaining a cordon sanitaire against the so-called far right. This split has, unsurprisingly, rendered the French right largely ineffective.
