Brimelow On Free Republic Fracas [Peter Brimelow] - 02/14/05

William Gheen's denunciation of the laughably misnamed Free Republic is gathering much support. Here he has posted a good compendium of Bulletin Board discussions (scroll down).  Save Our State puts the situation well too.

Personally, I concluded that there was something odd about FRmeister Jim Robinson within a few months of VDARE.COM's launch. It became apparent he was banning posts and posters using VDARE.COM material. This despite our never having used profanity or advocating violence.

In his only emailed explanation, Robinson claimed that a Steve Sailer article on the need for the GOP to mobilize its white base was "clearly racist." Ironically, this is exactly how his hero George W. Bush actually won in 2004.

I never look at FR, but VDARE.COM readers who do report a real crackdown on immigration opponents—right in time for Bush's crazy liberalization legislation.

I used to think that Robinson was simply an egotistical fool. Now, with the revelation of Bush White House subsidies to media supporters, I naturally wonder if more is involved.

Many of the low-wattage types on the FR thread on Gheen's article parrot the view that FR is Robinson's property and therefore he can do what he wants.

Sure—and a bar owner can call his establishment "Free Drinks!" and then charge. It's still dishonest.

Hmong Plea Bargain [Brenda Walker] - 02/14/05

Dishonest St. Paul cop Tou Mo Cha  has been given a generous plea bargain. So the state was saved some cash on trial costs, but the public's right to know has been denied.  Or at least postponed—here are other corruption investigations lined up, so we may soon learn more about how some Hmong have burrowed into American institutions with criminal results. There has been a disturbing pattern of Hmong groups morphing into gangs, as in the violence centered around the Gen. Vang faction, plus recent crime both in the streets and in the suites.

The Hminneapolis Star-Tribune continues to treat this serious crime story like happy-Hmong feature fluff. Where else do you see an accused criminal sympathetically described at length as a civic leader in slanted articles...

"When Sia Lo's family arrived in St. Paul in the 1970s after the Vietnam War, they had nothing. Local church groups gave the Hmong refugees shoes and clothing.

"Since Lo's humble arrival at age 10, his climb has been meteoric, both in traditional Hmong leadership circles and in the St. Paul political sphere. "

Sia Lo, an assistant to St. Paul Mayor Randy Kelly, is being investigated by the FBI in connection with a $75,000 bribe for the construction of a Hmong funeral home.

Of course there is criminal behavior among all cultural groups. But here the press acts to cover up wrong-doing among immigrants—and even takes the side of a criminal against American victims, as happened when the six Wisconsin hunters were murdered by a Hmong last November.

Malkin and MSM, including WSJ [James Fulford] - 02/14/05

If you read Michelle Malkin's column on Eason Jordan's speech at Davos, you should read her follow-up in the NYPOST. [ REALNEWS.COM, February 14, 2005] In it, she thumps the mainstream media for their insouciant attitude to Jordan's anti-American libels. Mainstream media here includes our old friends at the WSJ, whose insouciance, here, here, and here, is remarkable, leading Hugh Hewitt to say re the "The Jordan Kerfuffle.

"About this last piece I can only speculate that Eason Jordan is somebody's friend." Logrolling at the Wall Street Journal? What is the world coming to?
